Caught this movie last night. Wasn't sure if it would be for me. Have to say it was not as good as I expected it to be. However, Natalie Portman's performance was superb. It'll be interesting to see whether she picks up an Oscar this weekend.

Re: Black Swan
A row has erupted over whether Natalie Portman danced most of her ballet scenes in Black Swan. Does it matter whether it was her or 'ballet double' Sarah Lane?

Part of the reason I liked the film so much was because you couldn't see the join between her and a dance double, it was obvious there would have to be one ballet dancers train for years.

Re: Black Swan
When I left the 'Your Highness' Screening I was directed to go down to the basement by one of the ushers. There were a group of people in front of me who he had told the same thing. He seemed quite sure that I needed to go to the basement too so I just followed - I didn't have the energy to argue. I ended up following the group into a screen. I sat through the trailers wondering what was coming next and then Black Swan started.denisel wrote:Saw this last night and well it was still playing on my mind this morning. There is no way that should have been a 15 - more like an 18. The sexual scene between the 2 girls was very explicit - even said so by my 14 year old. Very gruesome in parts too........
Thought Natalie was excellent in her role. Dancing was superb.
Have to agree with denisel. Definately don't think that this should have been a 15 and noteably 10 people walked out during the duration of the movie. I'm sure that you can guess at what points. Considering the fact that there were less than 50 people in the screen this might be a record. (It made me wonder who the group of people actually were than I ended up following into the screen).
I enjoyed the film but at the moment can't make up my mind if it was brilliant of slightly lacking in some parts. Until I can make up my mind it gets a 7.5/10 from me.
