For some strange reason, I thought yesterday was Sunday and put my alarm clock on in anticipation of an early start on Monday morning. As a result I woke up way too early today and am rather tired. *yawns*

You know it's hot when.... you see a snake on the footpath!

I have seen snakes in the UK before when out walking, but only a handful of times and never this early in the year. Don't know which of us was more startled, the snake or me, but we both went our separate ways pdq.

You also know you it's hot when you have spiders as big and almost as thick as tarantulas in your back garden. *shudders*

Good thing my Mum and Dad aren't afraid although I think my Mum was abit icky after she saw the big one. Dreading the day we get real tarantulas in the UK.

Unfortunately, I was not as liberal as you Ms_Thrifty. I ran in the opposite direction screaming.

Of course we have snakes, but the Adder is the only native poisonous one. There are probably escaped imports but our climate is likely to kill them off in winter.

Snakes are my absolutely biggest fears. Moreso in my childhood but I still cant shake it off. I did hold a snake in my hands once while in Florida to conquer my fear and I did so calmly but when I see its face, I break sweat. I cannot even watch them on films. I even looked away during the snakes scenes in Harry Potter. Its silly though, I really do have to try overcome it. But like a_person, I had no idea we had them over here! Now evertime I am out of London playing cricket every weekend, I am going to be very wary when I go into the bushes to retrieve a cricket ball!

To be honest with you TCMG, I would rather live with snakes in this country than spiders. I don't know why I am scared but I always think they will eat me when I see them (even though I look like a giant to them). Nothing terrifies me as much as spiders do. I can vacuum most insects but I can't even hold a vacuum within a metre of the spider incase it jumps on me and eats me! I guess it's because they run so fast and when they're on you, you have no idea where they are. At least with the snake, I'd know where it is while I run for my life.

My body has suddenly started itching and all this talk of spiders makes me feel as though there is one on me. I feel scared.
