No footballer should be worth 50 million pounds. That said, you can kind of understand why 50 million was splashed out for Torres. He's world class, and the way transfer fees have been sky rocketing in recent years, he really wasn't going to leave Liverpool for much less. The more baffling one is Carroll moving to Liverpool for 36 million pounds. This is a man who has only ever scored 34 domestic career goals. So based on that he is worth over one million pounds a goal. Are you serious? I should also mention over half of those goals were scored in the Championship - a decent division, but it's no Premier League. It's completely ridiculous, and I hope it comes back to bite Liverpool. If you had have said to me yesterday morning that Torres would leave Liverpool for 50m, and they would bring in both Suarez and Carroll, but would be overall 9m down for the day, I would have called you mental and had you sectioned. But that's football for you.

You can add Chamukh to that, as he came on a free transfer.

Actually, I did wake up thinking if Arsene got £50m for a player what he could do with that.

I don't think Torres is worth £50m, it's not as if Liverpool have been doing that well is it! So from Liverpool's point of view, probably a good time to sell him!

Arsene Wenger probably wouldn't have spent the £50 million anyways! Much prefers to develop the talent than to b*y big names.

Sorry I meant if he sold one of ours for £50m and then spent the £50m on other players: he'd probably get 10!

But it would break my heart if he sold anyone apart from Bendtner. He gets on my nerves less this season and scoring some good goals, but still... And he's not worth £50m.

Arshavin: he's not as good as he used to be.

BTW have you noticed how Arshavin walks out with Bendtner. A pair of NBFs, it cracks me up as it looks like a father walking out with his little boy!

As a Chelsea fan, I wasn't that interested in Torres coming to us especially at that price! He didn't have a wonderful world cup and he has only had a so-so season so far for me. My concern is that he is another Drogba - when he performs he performs but when he is not engaged in the game you might as well not have him on the pitch!

As for Liverpool signing Suarez............. over hyped. The Ajax manager said he is not necessarily a good team player and has only excelled because he was the best in the team and therefore everyone looked to get the ball to him quickly. The concern is that he will struggle to fit into a team that has strong players and he has to feed to them once in a while.

The transfers were a bit manic at times but I think that is probably because the state of the league. If a team saw a rival doing business they almost felt obligated to sign as well to ensure that they stayed up to the challenge being posed.

Prices were just way out of control and I am surprised by the figures Chelsea pa*d as Roman has pretty much restricted spending. Carlo had better prove that his decisons will make the difference!

Great. He proved me wrong and scored... I hope this continues.
