So all you guys were at the central London screenings then, WIQ was empty! Loads of seats available.

Uhm, not sure what to say about it. I found it quite dull (not as good as any of the French films I have seen, although I will admit I'm hardly an expert!). I did think it was shot very well, I appreciated the sentiment of the film and thought that Plummer (and the dog) were fantastic. Couldn't really fault McGregor either but I found it quite tiring to watch. Did a good job of conveying sadness and it was all very drawn out - it felt painful to me!

Only 6/10 for me and I feel I am being generous now I've had time to go away and reflect on it a bit, would have been a lower score on Monday evening. Just a bit disappointed as I did think I would like it more.

And totally agree about Goran Visnjic (lol at that description tarantinoed), very strange for me to see him like that, kept on feeling he was miscast. And to think I actually fancied him from his ER days, well no more! I know he is playing a role but that was awful.

I agree with most comments on here. Found this pretty tedious and self indulgent. I couldn't fault any of the performances, thought both Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent were both very good. Christopher Plummer was outstanding but the dog stole the show for me. 5/10.
I enjoyed the Q&A at the Curzon Soho, found Ewan's comments on the current giant film he is shooting with Bryan Singer interesting. Sounded like he couldn't wait for it to be over!

Managed to take a few photos as well as was in the second row.

Strange how the critics are all much keener on this than were most of us. Had I pa*d and gone with my expectations raised by the professionals, I'd have been even more disappointed and fed up!

Saw this in a less than half full Glasgow Cineworld tonight. I'd missed it last year and wanted to see if Christopher Plummer's acting deserves Besr Supporting Actor at Oscars tonight. I have to say that I did find the film annoying, moving back and forward in time. I loved the dog and it's thoughts appearing on screen! It was certainly desperate to get married! I was not that impressed with Christopher Plummer's role/acting . . . he was hardly in the film at times! I'm glad I've seen the film but not overly impressed.
Had the most annoying young woman sitting along from me. Arrived late, talked on several occasions(despite me shh-ing her), rustled the crisp packet loudly and then decided after 30 minutes that she & partner didn't like the film and left. Another lady left 5 minutes later.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Hardly anyone in Edinburgh tonight either and as I'd conveniently forgotten how shit this movie is went along for a second helping.
Would have been an OK movie without the pretentious crap that included actual screen shots of colour to represent the rainbow colours of Gay Pride, really pointless childish cartoons and such repetition of "This is the sun...the nature....the president....in year X" Yawn. The rest of the movie would have been over in haplf the time if it weren't for this padding.

Oh! Arthur stole the show!

He deserves Best Supporting Actor (assuming there was just one of him!)

I saw this last night - had not caught it the first time round. Had not really pa*d attention to what the film was about, having only remembered the clip about house music and thereby decided it must be quite funny.
No.
It was funny in places, very slow, I didn't like the jumping around in time... my +1 summed it up nicely: What was the point? I mean, I get what the point of the film it, but what was the point in making it?

Also, Kovac (he'll always be Kovac to me!) playing a young gay guy just didn't sit right with me. Really disappointed in this. 4.5/10

Oh and Shitsbury Ave was a disaster last night (no surprise). It was screen 7 again, but they decided that we had to wait downstairs till 6.20. I did was others suggested and went to the loos, then we got some snacks so it was 6.15 by the time we snuck up to the screen. Turns out however, that he was supposed to have given us printed tickets (as they were sold out) which he didn't so we had to go all the way back down to get them. Happened to a bunch of people. Predictably enough it was nowhere near full and it was all a big palaver over nothing. And I still don't understand why one woman chose to change seats once the film had started. She had to climb over us and got a death stare as a reward. Not sure she saw it in the dark...
