I found the film interesting, but I'm going to need a second viewing: I missed a lot of dialogue because of a whole row of loud laughing clappers sitting right behind me.

Those seats were marked "Reserved" and I'm guessing it was mostly friends/family of the filmmaker and actors.

With more time to reflect, I think this film is definitely a cross between Pulp Fiction and The Wicker Man. The 2 hit men were very much the British versions of Jules and Vincent down to the small talk and bloodied incidents.

I couldn't agree more. That was exactly what I thought and what I said when discussing this in the pub after the film. I don't know what the final questioner at the Q&A was on, saying that it wasn't a mix of genres! I think the Pulp Fiction similarity is why I enjoyed the first part of the film. Those who have glanced to the right of my posts may have guessed that this is one of my favourite films. I also thought that the relationship between the 3 main characters was quite interesting. But then there was a completely different film in there as well which was not only not nearly as good, but incomprehensible.

I also wouldn't mind seeing this again, so you're not alone in your madness!

It might interest all you Twighlight fans that she will play a character called Tanya in the new installment.

Yes, she was at the Empire Big Screen in this capacity, as well as promoting Kill List.

I am the last one to forgive anyone for slurping and munching during a screening but we also missed a lot
of the dialogue in spite of being surrounded by non-slurpers and non-munchers. We thought the actors mumbled a lot and the volume was simply too low. In other words, the sound was rubbish!

There was a lot of mumbling and fast talking. I didn't catch quite alot of dialogue which made it more frustrating.

I do agree with this too but I was initially blaming that on the poor acoustics of the cinema itself.

I forgot to actually say anything about the Prince Charles Cinema itself. This is the first time I have come back here to watch a film since my student days almost 2 decades ago. Back then, this was a beautifully tacky haven for us student slackers, which sported only one very large screen with a gorgeously characteristic big scratch a third of the way from the side edge. The seats were sloped downwards and yet we delusionally loved the place. I would come more than once a week as the weekly film program provided an eclectic mix of recent releases, classics and niche movies. This venue had a great vibe. Every saturday night, they would show double bills of all kind of genres. Quite often martial arts double bills, sometimes with stars and directors making an appearance on the stage. It was quite the rave for us then. Prices were just £1 to £1.50. Definitely bliss for film going students.

Twenty years on and they still have the same bloody prices, I am now wondering if they overcharged us back then! But now I see they have still retained the some characteristics such as the sloping downward seating and poor acoustics. The chairs believe it or not are rather better than the ones they had before. And now of course its 2 smaller screens. But all in all, this cinema hasnt lost any of its tacky charm. And seems to still sport an eclectic program mix.

A good review for the sake of a good review, apparently. I've not seen any grasp from these reviews of the film in the slightest.

You are quite right TheyCallMeMrGlass, no reason why the actor on the panel needed to be rude to someone trying to ask a question--it was a cheap shot. I never have the courage to ask a question at those things and that has put me off even thinking of trying.

Point is, if someone makes the time to stay behind, he should have been respectful or stuck to the 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'. As I said earlier, he was going in as I was leaving and I heard him say 'look at them all running away', so he was fully aware of how many people left and how many stayed.

As my aunty said, the film was rubbish so he should have been grateful that someone stayed behind at all.

Anyday now I'm going to get over how rubbish this film was.
