Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Re: Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Wow! How incredible was that?
Nothing much to say that hasn't already been covered by one of the more eloquent FMUK critics above so I'll just say that I loved every minute of this thrill-fest. "Mission Impossible 3" is still my favourite of the bunch but this comes an extremely close second. I would dock points strictly for the Kremlin demolition (which looked a little too fake for my liking) and the cheesy ending.
Screening-wise, I arrived at The O2 approximately around 17h30, and stood in the queue for the lower deck. A Sky rep then asked us if any of us would be keen to rather sit in the VIP balcony section, to which most of us happily obliged. Good move too because it seems they only opened up the lower section at about 18h30. What was also great is that they didn't ask us to switch off our phones until 10 minutes before the movie started.

Re: Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Saw this at the O2 tonight. Cinema was only 80% full and the film started pretty much on time.
I have never really been a Mission Impossible film fan. The best of the first 3 was MI:3 in my humble opinion with Philip Seymour Hoffman playing an excellent baddie and being a bit over the top. On this note my expectations were quite low as the previous instalments were not great with ropey and nonsensical plots.
Tonight's film was a very different film having been directed by Brad Bird (who did the Pixar films i.e. The Incredibles and a few others I have forgotten..oops). The story line was realistic, pacing great and the shots of Dubai and Mumbay were amazing. Tom Cruise is looking a bit old now but he did pull it off. Jeremy Renner was great and so was Paula Patton. Simon Pegg was excellent as usual and had most of the light hearted moments but a scene that I enjoyed quite a bit was when Jeremy Renner had to jump down an air vent which pa*d homage to the first film.
On the whole I really enjoyed it and it was very escapist especially for a cold Tuesday night.

Security, my arse. There was no bag searching or phone turning off until right before the movie started. They were present at the back of the room during the screening though. I had sent OH to be there for 5.30pm and there was already a queue! It gets more insane every time, that's the length of a movie just to get good balcony seats!
The film was utterly ridiculous and nonsensical, while at the same time being quite thrilling and entertaining. Half the time I hadn't got a clue why they were where they were or why they were doing what they were doing. I must say the stunts were amazing. Simon Pegg injected some much-needed humour in his trademark role of bumbling English computer nerd (I half expected Tom Cruise to tell him to "beam me up, Scotty!"), but altogether I thought the film was too long, and the bit in that car park was actually giggle-inducing. I mean, come on, who does a 100m vertical drop in a car? You must be absolutely bonkers - or Tom Cruise. And not a scratch on him of course.
Still, good enough to leave your brain at the door and just go with the flow.

"Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol... switch off brain, sit back & enjoy"
Pretty much in line with the previous MI films. Mindless fun... gotta love it

I protect them because of the endless dodgy accounts that end up following me. Rest assured, I'm no celebrity, but even I find my mindless rants amusing... anyway, back to the film.
I did hear that a 5th movie is a possibility. The ending sure allows for it.
Considering this may be my last of 2011, not too shabby

Really, really enjoyable. Especially the scene in dubai! Simon Pegg was really funny, and Tom Cruise was brilliant too. 8/10
