yeah but I took it that
part of his decision not to take the red sox offer was because he'd be further away from her, so he could be a 'winner' if he'd taken the offer but instead he's a 'winner' in being closer to his daughter :P
There must be a couple of versions of the song and maybe they thought it wouldn't make sense to keep the line when not seen as part of the movie.

I was surprised by the discussion if The Show is an original song as I thought it was a hugely popular hit so I just Googled it and Lenka is Australian which must be why it got a lot of radio play (I was living in Australia when it came out) and I was so familiar with it. It's a lovely song and I very much enjoy both Lenka and Kerris's versions of it (the added line in the movie version is hilarious).

oh it was familiar to me, I'm sure it's been in a phone ad or something but in just a short excerpt so never noticed the full lyrics. And I do vaguely remember it in Juno too.

You guys might be mistaken about the "Juno" thing.

See here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 027AAUDsLo
and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Show_%28Lenka_song%29

Also, "Juno" was made in 2007 whereas the song was recorded in 2008.

the intro definitely sounds very similar but I would not have said it was the same as the one in Juno! I have the soundtrack at work, I'll check tomorrow :)

You might be mistaking it for Anyone Else But You by The Moldy Peaches. They do sound quite similar.

Samples from the song are featured on DFS Sofa commercials in the UK.

That's why it's so familiar! bloody sofa adverts are on more often than phone adverts and it was always just a short clip.

Was at the screening in Edinburgh last night, saw you from afar Havingascreen but up at the back so could not say hi. Pictures mobbed and folks turned away. So obviously lots wanted to see it.

Thought the film was too long, far too hot in the cinema, chocolate melting 8O 8O.

Thought a lot of time spent on Billy's career and lead up to where he was now. Not a lot on the interaction between the players and as someone else said how they got to be unwanted.

Dont know if any of you saw Major League about the Cleveland Indians out years ago with Charlie Sheen (1989) who was the 'wild thing'. Similar sort of film with 'misfits' who won the league to spite the owner who had put a team of misfits together so they could lose and she could sell the club. Fabulous film and still remember it.

Although this film had Brad Pitt in it not as good. Liked Pete and would like to have found out what happened to him.

The Cinema booklet said if you liked Invictus you would like this. Not in the same League :(

7.5/10 from me who will try and find my old Major League video and watch it again :D

Obviously it's good for the cinemas/distributors/promoters, but I'm quite surprised to hear how full some screenings were. At Crawley I had the auditorium to myself for a good 10 minutes and even when more people arrived, they did so in dribs and drabs, some quite late. I don't think it was more than 60% full at most, in the end.
