Re: J. Edgar
loads of food munching went on in the cinema yesterday.
Did anyone else jump at the bomb blast in the beginning, there seems to be a number of jumpy bit in the screen these days, even the ad displaying a number of glass/jars/lights catches me out sometimes.

Re: J. Edgar
I am not the jumpy kind and yesterday was my very first time jumping!
(Very strange, I wonder what happened to me, will I be a jumper for ever now?)

Re: J. Edgar
Our film at Edinburgh had to be re-started as it was too big for the screen and out of focus. People did jump in unison at the bomb-blast, but they all jumped again on the re-run even though they knew it was coming! Lol.

Re: J. Edgar
This was pretty disappointing. As much as I heard about the prosthetics, I hoped it wasn't actually a big deal.
Well, it is. A huge deal. Everything outside of the Lindbergh baby plotline felt off.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: J. Edgar
Saw this last night.Didnt really enjoy it Thought it was half an hour too long
I agree with most people the makeup was awful
Even Judy Dench was not at her best in this film
Didn't seem to show much conviction

Oh god that picture of Armie Hammer in your review! He looks like a mummy who's about to turn to dust...soonforgotten wrote:This was pretty disappointing. As much as I heard about the prosthetics, I hoped it wasn't actually a big deal.

Saw this last night too. I indeed feel as you guys, in the sense that something was missing, and specially the film became a bit too lengthy (my GF actually passed for a few minutes...). Even though, thumbs up to Dicaprio, as he managed to make two different parts with good style, and specially for the historical background (I have to admit the latter was the only reason why I didn't think the night was a waste...)

Re: J. Edgar
I saw this last night and met some FMUKers (prettyxcool, Sunny Saver and MariaLionza) for the first time, albeit briefly!
I knew relatively little about JEH so found this interesting, though agree with some that it was probably too long; I think that was partly because there was too much ground to cover (as with the Iron Lady). I liked Tolver (lovely voice!) and agree that he got the short end of the stick where prosthetics were concerned. I think I'd have enjoyed it a bit more if it didn't jump backwards and forwards quite so much and in hindsight think that I blanked in places.
Didn't help that the man in front of me had a giant head!
6.75/10 from me!

Re: J. Edgar
Saw this last night in Glasgow and was dissappointed. I thought from the trailers I had seen that this would have been action packed, but any/all action appeared to be the few clips that had been used in the trailers. In my opinion the movie was slow, drawn out and really didn't throw any new light on the character of J Edgar. It was essentially a love story between the 2 men, and there was little other substance to the movie. If I had been watching it on the TV I would have switched over to another channel fairly early on. Leo was good in the part of J Edgar, but I have to reitterate what several have already commented on, that the aging make up, particularly for Clyde, was pretty awful (especially) for a movie with such a big budget! I felt that the movie never really got going and never lived up to it's potential.
