Very good. Elements of Castaway with some good twists. Just back from Bolton screening. Nearly ruined by some morons bringing a toddler that would not sit and be quiet near the front. *sigh*

Gosh I wish I could write as eloquently as you do Mrf.mrflunchy wrote:http://londoncitynights.blogspot.co.uk/ ... e-2nd.html
There's my full thoughts. What a brilliant, ambitious and beautiful film.
I just came back from seeing this at a packed Shepherds Bush. I was in 2 minds whether to go, due to transport problems, but am glad I did.
I have no idea about the meaning of it, maybe I should read the book. but it was beautiful to look at and the 3d and CGI was stunning. I have to admit I cried a couple of times because of the animals but I'm a softie .8/10

A very enjoyable film with some stunning cinematography.

Amazing visuals, a bit drawn out in places, but would give it 7/10, just for the effects and cinematography!

Re: Life of Pi
i read the book when i heard the film was coming out. i thought the film was lush and beautiful. i want to go and see a tiger at a zoo tomorrow (if that doesn't sound too cruel). and the use of 3d was great - the hummingbird at the beginning really came to life.
Unfortunately i think the film, just as when i read the book, left me a bit flat; that magic 'something' was missing. i got a bit bored a bout half way through and struggled to maintain my full attention until the end.
I was really looking forward to the film as someone tweeted the film was, quite unusually, better than the book. i am not sure how they came up with that. i think that it is not enough for a film to be just beautiful. I didn't hate it, i just don't want to watch it again.
6.5/10
the book also was also choose your own ending / which do you prefer to believe?
Missed it again - stuck at work.
I better not have to work on Sunday. I really want to see this.

I liked the film. Can't compare to the book as I've not read it. Beautifully shot and visually a stunning film. The tiger is amazing! Thought provoking. 8.5/10.

Sheffield screen nine (tiny one). Not read the book but as a film it could have had 20 minutes cut out, thus making it 8/10 rather than 7.5.
Is it just me or do some 3D films seem to blur more in the action scenes and when panning? Almost like a low frame rate. It wasn't the focus, that was pin sharp on the small screen.

Re: Life of Pi
Just watched this at Cheshire Oaks
Asked if it was 3D on the way in & was told it wasn't !!
Movie then started in 3D so had to run to the main entrance to grab glasses.
Film was paused whilst glasses were handed to the rest of the audience.
Excellent story with some stunning visuals
Mrs & I both loved it 8/10
Kids not so much 5/10
