Is this what you thought should have happened or what actually happened cos if so we (and the majority of the rest of the people in our screening) missed the very end?prettyxcool wrote: I really thought the ending would be very different.
The baby does not make it
Re: Locke
This would have made a decent radio play, and should have been on radio because I didn't think the visuals added anything whatsoever.

Re: the ending. I agree but I guess it's
the end of his journey and his old life with a new life beginning with the birth of a new life.
Beate wrote:How on earth can anyone think that this is a boring film? This isn't about concrete or which version of it to use, it's about a man who made one wrong decision in his life, now decides to do the honourable thing and as a result of this his entire life and possibly the building project he's been overseeing is crashing down around him. He's driving through the night, simulaneously trying to reason with his distraught wife, calm down the mother of his as yet unborn child, comfort his sons, deal with an irrate boss (tellingly labelled "Bastard" on his mobile phone screen) and motivate the miserable colleague he left in charge of the building project on the eve of the most important day for this project ever. One false move and everything will collapse - not just for the project but in his life as well. It's gripping stuff and I have no idea how he stayed so calm all the time. He had such a soothing voice, it was almost unnatural. To be honest, his voice did put me off a bit, it wasn't just calm, it also sounded weirdly accented and a bit too posh if that makes sense. I was also hoping for a proper ending, but it just petered out somehow.
Still, 8/10.

Re: Locke
Saw this today in Clapham. It was a road movie with a difference - where the protagonist spends the whole movie on the road. Had I realised that he wouldn't leave his car for the duration of the movie, I don't think I would have bothered to go. The plot was unoriginal (apart from the continual references to concrete) and had been done before in much better films. Although there was an opportunity to add a surprise ending, nothing happened and the film just petered out.
I hadn't read up on the film beforehand but I had seen one poster from which I noted it was a thriller. Well – it most definitely wasn’t a thriller – in any form.
I would categorise it as a bad made-for-TV movie. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. 1/10

Well we are in the YES camp. Husband, son and I all agreed we thought it was terrific and Tom Hardy gave a great performance.
What do the Welsh FMUK contingent think of his Welsh accent? We are ignorant of such things here and thought it was fine.

Re: Locke
I thought his accent was fine - very Anthony Hopkins or Richard Burton. Not sure why he needed to be Welsh though. Did it add anything to the story? Agreed very soothing and calming though.

Re: Locke
I have to agree this is far from being a thriller and more like a film made for TV.
The premise is interesting but visually dull but maybe that was the point. I actually found the character irritating and unlikeable which doesn't help when there is only one character on the screen. For me 2/10

Re: Locke
It was Hardy decision to use the Welsh accent as he thought it would be a calming/soothing one. Personally it worked for me. Think the conversations with the mum to be were particularly calming.stuartboy wrote:I thought his accent was fine - very Anthony Hopkins or Richard Burton. Not sure why he needed to be Welsh though.
