We have a few tickets for this week as follows:

Fri 14 - 7.45
Sat 15 - 7.45

MADAGASCAR

"If someone is going to disappear, they need to stay gone..."

Three people are drawn irresistibly back to Rome to uncover the truth behind a young man’s disappearance. To his mother he was an idealist who fled the West for Africa. His mother’s lover remembers an angry misfit who threw his life away. But his sister thinks she knows why he really went missing, and a gripping story of desire, loneliness and betrayal unfolds.

Sorcha Cusack leads the cast in an entrancing new play by J T Rogers (The Overwhelming - National Theatre, The Great Game - Tricycle). Madagascar won the Pinter Review Prize, the American Theatre Critics’ Association Osborne Award, and was awarded “Best Play of the Year” by the Miami Herald and the Miami New Times.

Cast: Sorcha Cusack, Miranda Foster, Barry Stanton

Location/About the Theatre:
Theatre503 at The Latchmere
503 Battersea Park Road
London SW11 3BW

In 1982, the Gate Theatre in Notting Hill expanded to include a brand new custom-built studio theatre above The Latchmere Pub, on the south side of Battersea Bridge Road, London. The theatre, subsequently renamed the Grace Theatre, immediately established itself as one of London's leading fringe venues.
In 2002 the Latchmere was relaunched as a home for new writing. Another name change - to Theatre503 - led to the premiere of over 50 of the most exciting writers of their generation, including Dennis Kelly, Phil Porter, Duncan Macmillan and Rachael Wagstaff. It went on to win the Peter Brook Empty Space Award, was nominated for a Time Out Live Award in 2006 and won Best New Play for The Mountaintop at the 2010 Olivier Awards.
In November 2006 Paul Robinson and Tim Roseman were appointed Artistic Directors. Their vision is to develop 503 as an essential theatre; a crucible where writers, directors, actors and designers think better and bolder than they would expect. We will seek out, nurture and promote work of uncommon and exceptional promise from artists both fresh off the boat and weathered with success.

MATTHEW BARLEY plays JOHN METCALFE

We have a few complimentary tickets available to Matthew Barley plays John Metcalf at Kings Place this week.

All performances begin at 7.30pm and Seefilmfirst Vouchers must be redeemed at box office by 7.15pm on day of performance.

MATTHEW BARLEY plays JOHN METCALFE

‘JOHN METCALFE is a composer I discovered some years ago whose music touches me deeply; it is always fascinating, always intelligent – it blends acoustic and electronic sounds with inaudible seams; it develops its themes with perfect clarity – and above all, it packs a big emotional punch. It can make me cry and laugh or jump up and down with excitement, and that is what new music should be doing. Listening to John’s music I can hear the powerful traditions of classical music (he is a master viola player), as well as the here-and-now in his red-hot drum beats and haunting synthesisers. This is music that can speak to everyone about love and freedom, fear and yearning, and the deep mysterious joy of music.’ Matthew Barley curator
‘John Metcalfe crosses all manner of boundaries. Melding avant-pop and electronica, film music and contemporary classical...’ Billboard Magazine
