I thought this was much better than I expected it to be. Not brilliant by any means but quite a few good funny bits and an enjoyable story. Maybe I wouldn't have liked it so much if I had seen the British original, which from all accounts is similar but better, but I haven't so I did.

Not bad, but I don't see the point in it. The jokes are the same as the original and it feels a little tired. 6/10 from me.

Well isn’t life strange! Just over a week ago I was decrying “Rec2” as pretty much the worst film I’d ever seen – but now here we are just 8 days later and I have a new candidate in the shape of Death at a Funeral. I ask you - was this seriously supposed to be a comedy?

Danny Glover, who I have an enormous respect for, should hang his head in shame for being associated with this unadulterated pile of excrement. There were no redeeming features whatsoever about this badly scripted film – it was just puerile and predictable to the point where I actually felt embarrassed for the cast playing it out. :nono:

Seriously, I know humour is a personal kind of a thing – but in my opinion Death at a Funeral simply was not in the slightest bit funny. Not at all ! Period!! I did not laugh once. The Chuckle Brothers would have made a better attempt at this.

At the Silverlink tonight there was a little bit of laughter from certain sections of the audience for some parts of this. To my shame, I actually felt resentment welling up in me towards the people who were finding it funny.

I have to say that I completely agree with Spanner’s review of this.

1.5 out of 10 from me.

So it's exactly like the original, well done Hollywood, you can't even reinvent things.

If you haven't written that letter yet can you include a complaint regarding the "comedy" She's Out of My League.

Laugh count: 0.

Apologies if I shouldn't be talking about other films in this thread, just gonna pop over to the correct thread and warn people there as well.

I thought this was pretty much a hit and miss comedy with the emphasis on the miss. I have to admit I laughed a few times but mostly this was pretty mediocre. Chris Rock does his best but Martin Lawrence does what he's been doing in comedies for the past couple of decades - ie. not being remotely funny (his supposedly amusing comic sub-plot involved him perving over a teen relative, which wasn't funny, just creepy). The rest of the cast are variable too with James Marsden gamely trying his best and Tracy Morgan proving once again that he's nothing without Tina Fey (the fact that he spends the last third of the film covered in crap seemed like quite a decent comment on his film career as a whole). And pity poor Danny Glover. To have one movie on your CV that involves an undignified scene on a toilet (Lethal Weapon 2) is unfortunate, to have two is just ridiculous. What was he thinking? When the only thing that pops into your head during some scenes is 'Isn't Luke Wilson getting fat?', then you know you're in trouble. Still I'm ashamed to say that I did laugh on occasion but this was largely forgettable as a whole.

I agree. There were some people behind me in Islington who were laughing really loud all the time. I was really baffled and after a while annoyed. Wonder whether they had drugs/alcohol before watching this movie...
