Went to Glasgow Braehead and it was completely full. Cinema staff even went to get extra chairs from the foyer. At least 8 more. Only checked my phone at 18:15 to read the email about film starting later. But then the cinema was at 80%. Security was at ours too.

Well I didn't really expected much as i dislike 2 and 3. They were like The Matrix 2 and 3. However I actually really liked this. Guess it was because of my low expectations. It is a Disney story that you know how it is going to end and like the rollercoaster ride just let it take you on that journey. With this one you don't need to see the other three which is a blessing because whilst I have seen them I don't remember them with great detail.

3D-wise, I thought it was pretty good. Characters were 3 dimensional throughout and I do think we expect more from 3D effects. Things stood out when they did. Maybe it was where I was sitting? Free popcorn given so will eat that at the weekend. 8/10

Pirates of the Caribbean On Duller Tides...I'm afraid :(7

You know I think back at the youtube video of Jack Sparrows surprise visit to a Greenwhich School in response to a little school girl's letter. That was 10 times funnier than this seriously witless movie.

I love the first 2 movies, and I even like the overly ambitious messy third one. I thought this film will try go back to grass roots that made the first film so enjoyable. Sadly, the story is mostly unexciting, dull and pointless. The dialogue had no wit (edit: ok not completely) and the narrative lacked focus. There were sparks of fun but god it was just too few. It all seemed too trying and stale. The supporting characters were even more dull, (apart from the Shane's Blackbeard and Rush's Barbossa). The action scenes were uninspriring but for some flashes of invention. And Jack Sparrow has lost some magic, though towards the end he did make me chuckle a few times.

This was a packed audience tonight, and I expected for a film like this to hear some laughter but they were eerily silent with a few chuckles here and there. I didnt feel any good vibes here.

Perhaps I may have been expecting too much. Maybe I will enjoy it more second viewinf as I do intend to watch this again, but in 2 f**king D. This movie is dark lit most of the time, so the 3d just makes the experience even worse as it darkens the visuals further, robbing me of what I suspect to be some fine visuals. It felt like I was watching a really bad pirate video. So this is what cinema has succombed to? What a painful death for my number one destination for escapism.

But I wont complain further, it is a free preview, I got to mett my mate who I dont see too often, and I at least got to say hi to vibrant Prettyxcool, MarioLionza (sorry I called you by your username! I wasnt thinking!) and was nice to meet Turtle for the first time. Weirdo, was good to see you too!

5/10 :( For 3D version

We really enjoyed it, everything apart from the rude man who moved seats as he didn't want to sit near us and we'd literally only just sat down. he had to sit next to some other stranger instead ...weirdo.

was a bit annoyed it started so late as we were all really tired and wanted to get on and watch the film.

i quite missed orlando bloom :( but still johnny depp was good and made me laugh plenty.

i found a lot of the film too dark to see what was going on due to the 3d glasses i had to keep taking them off which was annoying as then i'd have to grab them back on else my eyes went funny. bit annoying for the most part but did enjoy some of the fight scenes with the swords

Was great to see Glassy (if only briefly) at the O2 Greenwich this evening. First time in the big Sky screen, I thought it was brilliant, and a massive bag of free popcorn to chew on. Although the film definitely added something new to the series, it doesn't make it any better. A few funny moments from Jack Sparrow but he's seemingly the only character in the film I really cared about, apart from that mermaid :D Plot is pretty basic, more cohesive than the previous film but still lacking in substance. 3D is pointless, I don't know what it is about live-action 3D films, but they just don't seem to impress me. Let's hope Peter Jackson does a better job on the Hobbit. I'd give it 5/10

Friends and I went to Braehead and loved the film! Johnny Depp was brilliant as were all the other actors. I loved the 1st film but did find the 2nd & 3rd films not to the same high standard. However, the script writers got it right this time. The humour was peppered through the film. Lots of swashbuckling and no-one dies! Great! No blood and gore ....just pure escapism and fun. I'm sure this film will be a BIG hit.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Put that in a spoiler tag if I were you. Some people haven't seen the film.

Arrived at 6.20pm and the 02 Sky Screening room was already packed, didn't realise that some people's tickets were for an earlier time, so the email sent to me at 5.15pm was very confusing to say time has changed to 6.30-7pm. Anyway, the lady sitting next to me arrived in time, but all her family were scattered all over the cinema as there were no four seats together! I think we were very lucky to grab ours together.

Lovely to see and catch up with so many FMUKers, a_person, MrG, denichka, canadian_turtle and milkchocmonkey. Missed you valda. Hope you are feeling better.

Enjoyed the swashbuckling, all the different characters, different agendas, and the humour! Granted weak plot, but I was entertained! So much better than the last two Pirates. Hated the 3D which made the film so dark. It was much nicer without the glasses, as I peeped out a few times. Stayed till the end of the credits, for that little clip too. 7/10
