1) Yes, but it was still a shock to fans to see they'd gotten to that stage.
2) I know, although the theories in the Digital Spy article I posted in the Doctor Who thread are pretty fascinating!

A US western mini-series on Channel 5 that's got Beppe from Eastenders in it that's actually quite good. Well I never.

I'm hoping to watch it. It's in the Planner too, as I normally get my tv viewing interrupted!!

Elementary.
This is how you'd expect a modern update of SH to pan out as - zippy, not too tightly plotted and full of Holmes-Watson friendly fire. Whereas Sherlock from the BBC is a slower burning but more superior product, this is fast food Holmes for those wanting a quick Sherlock buzz. I had doubts about Lucy as Watson but shes a comically resigned perfect foil for Johnny's quickfire boisterous deductions. Her comic timing is excellent and she can generate a laugh with a mere blink or nod. Miller plays his character like an alternative universe version of the ever gurning House MD who never went to med school but became a private eye instead. Theres a hint of David Tennants DW about him, as it happens. And its a fun cocktail, perfect for filling that space between now and the next series from the BEEB.

I like how you call this the fastfood Holmes, it's very true. While I am (surprisingly) really liking the show it's not quite as complicated as the BBC version (I often figure things out before Sherlock - which isn't supposed to be the case considering how clever he is!). But JLM and Lucy really make the show with their portrayals of the characters.
Speaking of Sherlock, we have to wait until 2014 for new episodes

no shit? What a mammoth sabbatical.
Finished The Paradise, one of two BBC dramas that puts the North-east on the map this year. Its pretty lavish in its scale and the characters were well fleshed out (apart from Moray, who was a bit unbelievable). I'd recommend this to anyone who loves a slice of Victorian England.
