Re: Music Concerts/Gigs
sitting outside actually works, the noise from the main stage is so huuuuge that's its perfectly clear and audible for a picnic at the entrance.
As long as the stage faces the entrance haha (it has everytime I been).

I had a good experience selling a ticket through Twickets.mupton wrote:Good idea. You can always try your luck at some last minute tickets from touts just before the main acts come on - but do not offer more than £20.valda wrote:do what I usually do, sit outside with your mates, your own food and drink. Really want to go but don't think I can afford full price.
It's a twitter account and app that is for face value or below face value selling.
I guess it hasn't got the protection of eBay/seatwave etc, but using PayPal or meeting in person should counteract that.

Great seeing The Kinks legend Ray Davies tonight in Hyde Park, wouldn't have normally pa*d for this kind of thing but nabbed some free tickets thanks to yogi's post (cheers yogi
). Ray's voice may have been off here and there (to be fair, he is nearly 70!) but it was one classic after another (You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, etc.) and a great (drunken) atmosphere. Also caught Elvis Costello's set before that, but that was more hit and miss...

I thought it was far better organised than in previous years - different promoters - and even though the sound levels had been capped further by the Council, the sound quality (and level) was far better. This must have been down to the 'sound design' (if that is the right term). Overall the set up was good, and they were entertaining the crowd from the front to the back - with street entertainers etc.
I thought Elvis Costello was very good; but I am a fan of his music, and he rattling through the greatest hits. Though odd last two songs to end on - including 'I want you'. I was pleased with all the main stage acts. I just didn't get time to check the other stages out.

Re: Music Concerts/Gigs
Went to Wireless festival yesterday and it was pretty awesome! While I did feel slightly ill through the first half of it, as the performers improved (John Legend, Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake) I completely forgot about that. Somehow I was able to stand up for 11 hours straight, and thus got a sweet view of the action. The biggest cheer of the night was by far when Jay-Z joined JT for 'Suit and Tie', and JT's set was incredible!

Off to O'Neills Leytonstone this afternoon. Final day of their music festival weekend. Top band Open Mind are playing so should be good.

There were a couple of slower songs/ballads I didn't care for much, but was good to hear some of the hits like Radio Radio, and he really should have ended the set with Peace, Love and Understanding..

Agree. It was also good to hear Nick Lowe's acoustic version of the song (which he wrote).
Re: Music Concerts/Gigs
Went to Hyde Park Friday for Barclaycard BST - Free Friday (after Elton John's cancellation)
Got their around 5.30pm and caught Gabrielle Aplin, Elvis Costello and Ray Davies on the main stage
Gabrielle Aplin for me is one of those artists who is Good but currently exists in a saturated female solo singer market. Best song she did was a cover of Go Your Own Way (Fleetwood Mac)
Star of the night was Elvis Costello. One of the most underated artists who should have been a megastar. He knew what the "festival" audience wanted and gave us it. A Greatest Hits set where the stand out for me was Red Shoes and I Dont wanna Go to Chelsea
We managed to get close to the front of the stage and the atmosphere was great !
Ray Davies headlined. A great songwriter but never the Greatest Singer....Highlight of his performance was Sunny Afternoon
A great overall evening in great weather
