The whole thing sounds like a minefield, Mr G - though thank you for the explanation. What a good thing not all sports work like that in this case!

As far as I am concerned the badminton players deserved the boot. They failed to play to the best of their ability regardless of who they faced in the next round, they were in a sporting competition and should have been showing off the fact that they could compete at olympic level. How many other teams/players would have liked the opportunity to compete at that level. Poor show.

MrG, the players were warned during the game to play properly or face disqualification, so while their coaches might have advised them to play badly, they should at that stage have bucked up their ideas and played well. Given that they're not playing at all now, that would surely have been preferable. Equally agree with whoever said that to do group stages rather than heats was a bit dumb. I feel most sorry for those that pa*d good money to see the badminton and got nothing...

My issue has been resolved. I called the 08448472012 number probably 40 times and the last time, after going through 5 minutes of automated voice messages, I finally got put on hold while listening to incomplete 'Lighthouse Family' & 'Body Rockers' songs. This lasted 10 minutes and then a real-life human being spoke to me. He listened intently, sympathetically and with a fantastically friendly demeanor. After chatting to his supervisor, they agreed that they would make an exception and honor my request.

So for anybody else who might need to contact the 2012 ticketing team, be as patient and persistent as you can. Eventually you will get through.

For now, I am on cloud 9. Even happier than I was earlier during the rowing event :)
