If only.. he wears contacts and rubs his eyes quite often.. at that moment he was rubbing his eyes and speaking under his breath "oh come on this elephant is so big, this thing can't really hurt it  "... Yeah, right... Ah, men!

My bag of full of fruit had its own seat as my friend did not show up, even though she texted me earlier to save her a seat, but that is another rant ;)

I enjoyed the movie, definitely not seeing it again the near future, did not enjoy it that much... The charms of Mr Pattinson seem to be wearing off me as he seemed a bit stiff and definitely needs to speak louder and clearer. And the sex scene was kind of anti climatic (pun intended).

I was disappointed by this. After hearing all the hype and seeing the trailers I was expecting a big epic romance with impressive circus acts but what I got was a half-hearted romance with a few animal tricks.

There was a distinct lack of chemistry between the two leads, the score often did not match the tone of the scenes, the story was slow to get going and there was no visual spectacle. I did not cry nor was I moved at all. I was hoping to be amazed by some impressive elephant tricks but there was no wow factor here. I did believe in the authenticity of the costumes, environment and the background the story takes place in but was indifferent to the lovers’ plight. The story did not culminate in a dramatic enough finale and
I disliked the peachy-clean ending and the fact they happily sailed off into the sunset
Waltz definitely provided the strongest performance playing August both menacing and sympathetic. Witherspoon was decent but the lack of chemistry with Pattinson meant she could not elevate her performance to another level. She had a more interesting relationship with August than with Jacob. Pattinson was pretty wooden and his main strengths are brooding and longing glances but does not have the acting range to play tormented or grieving.

Perhaps my expectations were too high but I was underwhelmed. The film had no resonance with me and is easily forgettable. 6.5/10.

Thought this was pretty good, decent story, nicely told, well shot but lacking anything unique.

Style and tone of movie reminded me very much of titanic

ooh I was thinking titanic too!

was thinking as Robert Pattinson seems like Leo Di Caprio to me.. a huge following & can see that they're handsome but at the same time do nothing for me, but still would watch their films if it's a good enough story.

But unlike Titanic this won't be remembered in a few year's time. No iconic music, no iconic story, no iconic lines, no iconic acting.

I was expecting this to have an epic love story like Titanic (without the mass deaths of course) but the romance was so lacklustre here.

I was considering reading the book before seeing this, but now I am definitely not moved the read the source material.

i think after reading everyone thoughts/reviews i probably expected a bit too much from the film
i mean it was okay but there was nothing really special about it or touching.

might read the book and see it if any better than the film

a_person wrote:Greenwich was almost empty. Only 58 seats were used (my bag was also watching the movie) and it was in a small screen too (Screen 1). Also the usher was a complete dufus. When the screen was ready, he goes, "The talkers screening is now ready." WTF is talkers??
Just got back from the screening at Kingston and on the way out we were handed vouchers for a discount for coffee in one of the bars there - and it was headed TALKER SCREENING OFFER.

As usual lots of empty seats and they only glanced at the tickets and didn't collect them. It's just a waste of ink in my opinion.

Enjoyed the film (thought Waltz and Rosie were the best actors) and met the lovely aruif for the first time :star:
