I'd never read 'The Hobbit' again, you know? Its the same with the Twilight books, the first film was a cracking movie and it put teen vampires on the map, but I wouldnt want to plough through Stephanie Meyers dull writing style when I've read some fantastic Anne Rice vamp novels.
Even if you havent read the books, how the hell did you escape not knowing who dies?!? Everyone has been blurting it out since release!

The thing with these harry Potter Books, the narrative matures with the protaganists. JKR's writing flows beautifully with incredible wit and imagination that many adults would enjoy too. There is a reason why she is more acclaimed than Stephanie Meyers amongst the adult readers. But I get your stance, everyone has their own flavours. I've read all 3 of those authors you mentioned too and each have their own brilliant style. Regards to the Hobbit, that was a childrens story, one of my favourites. But when I went onto reading Lord of the Rings, I thought WTF, why are these books so big, then when I started reading them I kept thinking WTF, this aint for kids, I'm getting bored, whats all these little numbers at the bottom of the pages for? Appendices? Why the fmuk do I have to keep going there? Lucky I didnt say swear aloud because I was only 12 and would have got seriously smacked. Lord of the Rings was definitely for the older children and adults. I read them again later and appreciated their signicance as the original and definitive fantasy books. But deep down, for me, the Hobbit was the real masterpiece of storytelling. JKR is amongst the greats, purely for the way she writes and I just look forward to anything she writes, even an article on world events. Anything. Dont suppose there is any pursuading you to give those later HP books another stab? ;)

'eck, just wrote a LOONG reply to your post and the computer logged me out and lost it. grr. The jist being that her books start well but theres far less impetus these days to continue the declining quality of the series now its all tied up.

Latez, cheers, sorry, Glassy.

Nevertheless, you can rest assured for now I am def looking forward to the final wizard battle of the series.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

HARRY POTTER: A MAGICAL EVENT AT THE
LONDON FILM MUSEUM – PLANS UNVEILED!

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has unveiled plans for the spectacular Harry Potter: A Magical Event at the London Film Museum on Saturday 2 July 2011, just five days before the highly anticipated world premiere of the final film in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

Harry Potter fans are encouraged to don costumes and flock to London’s South Bank for this special, one-of-a-kind extravaganza that will allow enthusiasts to experience a spellbinding array of Harry Potter products and see actual film props and costumes that were used throughout the series. All of the featured Harry Potter products will be on sale in advance of the 7 July premiere of the final film.

Toy company Tomy will lead the charge with an on-site team to demonstrate how to use their products including the best selling The Monster Book of Monsters, Hermione’s Bag and the Infra-Red wands. Using Tomy Infra-Red wands, visiting fans will be able to test their wand skills and duel against each other in the museum’s debating chamber for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Fans will also have the opportunity to dress up in official costumes from Rubies, Noble and Lochaven and take their photo in front of an iconic Hogwarts backdrop. This complimentary photo is sure to delight any wizard or witch. Fully built LEGO Harry Potter construction sets will be on display, and visitors can try their hand at guessing the number of LEGO mini figures hidden amongst the display for a chance to win LEGO products. Fans can also try out the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 the video game provided by EA Games, and licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, available beginning July 12. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be providing game pods for people to play the LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 video game and giving a first look at the sequel LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 video game, which will be on sale in Winter 2011.

Panini, Transworld, Winning Moves and She Who Dares will also be on-site to demonstrate their new products which include sticker books and stickers, the amazing Film Wizardry behind-the-scenes book, Harry Potter Top Trumps and the updated board game Destination Hogwarts.

The Harry Potter: A Magical Event at the London Film Museum is being promoted via the Harry Potter UK Facebook page that boasts over 1 million fans. Entrance to the Harry Potter: A Magical Event at the London Film Museum will be free of charge for people who arrive at the London Film Museum in Harry Potter costume; this will grant them access to the Harry Potter area as well as the entire London Film Museum. Standard ticket holders for the London Film Museum on the day of the event will also have access to the Harry Potter area.

Many of the featured Harry Potter products will be available to b*y at the London Film Museum’s Glass Box Shop on the South Bank which will be fully Harry Potter branded and will act as the retail destination for the event.

The props and product displays will remain on show at the London Film Museum until the end of 2011.

YES I HAVE TICKETS!!!!
Go ahead, make my day - by visiting my blog: http://jacobthehobnob.wordpress.com/

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

I will have tickets for this preview too thanks to an awesome fmuker? I have seen every film on its cinema release but to see this very last one as a preview screening in presence, I imagine, of many other fmukers, is just the sweetest end to this HP book/film journey.

Did anyone here go to the Harry Potter Magical Event yesterday, that PCX posted about earlier? How was it?
