Re: Colombiana
After a really pants day at work where everything I touched turned to poo, I wasn't really looking forward to this especially after tearing home to get the car to get to the cinema miles out west. I got there 2 mins late but they let me in and I crashed into the seats at the front which were mostly empty.
Glad I went as for all the holes and rip offs of other things this was an hour an a half of entertaining high action nonsence and it made me forget my russish day and I guess at the end of the day entertainment is what it's all about. That film will never win any awards but then again many that do bore me to tears!
I was most surprised but I actually enjoyed it.

Re: Colombiana
Pretty average thriller that passes the time without doing anything particularly amazing or original.
Zoe Saldana was fine but the script was weak and it took itself way too seriously. If it had been approached in the same spirit as the Transporter series I'm sure it could have been something of a guilty pleasure. I got the feeling that Luc Besson felt he was saying something a little deeper than his usual action fare but it never really worked. Also, putting Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt (no matter how good it is) on the soundtrack doesn't make your film any more profound. Getting a director like Olivier Megaton is also hardly the best choice if you want subtlety or depth. Yet another Luc Besson hired hand that does an efficient job without ever doing anything distinctive
There also seemed to be a lot of scenes that were the result of the writers thinking what would look quite cool here without any thought for logic or sense. The shark scene for example. Sure it looks cool but it doesn't really make any sense. Why would an assassin bother to do a hit that way? The clumsy way the dogs were introduced as well. Hmm..you don't think the fact she can get them to eat on demand will figure in the film later on do you?
Also felt it was a bit odd how impersonal her final kill was. She spends 15 years building up to getting her revenge only to do it from a distance over the phone using the dogs. Which was a bit odd.
Colombiana isn't an awful film and there were a couple of efficiently done action scenes but it never really amounts to much.

Re: Colombiana
Went to see this film for a second time tonight and found that I enjoyed it just as much as first time round. Yes, there are many plot holes and unexplained events , but the action sequences in some parts were really well done. As a midweek film when you looking for some escapism after a hectic day, this film fits the bill. Liked it a lot.

No! I wish I could've walked out but was just at the centre of the roll in a packed cinema. I will never make this mistake again. True though people were laughing at the weirdest timesDavid wrote:I'm really surprised by the reaction to this. Did no one else find it really funny in a "that was so awful way"?

Glad we chose this one as the Odeon ended up not showing it due to a "not having a key or something". Friend said they were pretty good and said they could either watch another film or get a voucher.
Unfortunately for me I had tickets for Braehead and after waiting till start time, we got told that there was no key to unlock the film, whatever that means. The staff were as your friend said very good tho and we had the offer of seeing another movie that night or getting free passes to any other movie on any other night. As I had seen half of the films showing that night and didn't fancy the other half we took the vouchers thinking that we would go and see the movie when it came out on general release... Reading some of the reviews tho, not sure whether to just go and see something else instead!

Re: Colombiana
Went to see this last night. Admittedly, with Luc Besson behind the story, I was expecting a bit more. Really liked Transporters, Taken and even From Paris with Love. Naturally, was expecting something similarly interesting. While the film was not bad, it was somewhat of a let down. It felt like a predictable regular action movie.

I thought it Zoe kicked ass. She played the bad ass killer and got p*y back. I loved the action she played action women really well.

Re: Colombiana
I thought it was a decent enough revenge action thiller. Unfortunately had had a really early morning and couldnt help falling asleep after eating a huge amount of popcorn.. missed the middle of the movie but didnt really hinder my understanding of what was happening. 6.5/10
