Apart from all this putting me in a bad mood, the cinema is a nice one and the film was very enjoyable and funny. If it had not been for the phone thing and all the searching and detectors that made me feel like I was in the wrong place, the experience would have been great. But they just messed it up for me.
well maybe next time read the information given with the free film code? it stated phones would be taken

so it's either leave the phone at home, hand it in or not bother going

It was mentioned before and I believe even stated clearly on the tickets that there would be security and phones would be taken. You could've left it at home.

It may "just be a movie preview" but it's shown in advance of its release and this is the only way they have to try and prevent pirating.

Well I for one thought it was a great idea to have to hand over phones, for once no one "lighting up" because they can't be without their precious mobile for longer than 5 minutes. It didn't take long at all to be admitted to the screen (tickets were barely glanced at) and not much time afterwards to get phones back either. If only they had also bagged up the noisy females behind us who couldn't stop laughing and chatting and generally being really ignorant of the fact that they had a whole lot of other people around them. And while it was certainly funny, it wasn't half as funny as they made you believe.

Nice to see canadian_turtle, valda, prettyxcool and MrG, who gave us seats next to him then disappeared into the foyer, never to be seen again! He might have ended up with the girls further down, I am not sure.

I thought this was mindless fun but it won't stay long in the mind. There were too many cliches and you knew exactly how it was going to end from the word go. Interesting to see Til Schweiger playing yet another baddie, and he was even allowed to speak German. The fact that those two guys were secret agents on a mission totally got the backseat and they used their contacts mostly to spy on and woo Reese Witherspoon.

What kind of stupid name is "FDR"?

Wasn't that the point? Its a comedy.
Hey, no hate to anyone who enjoyed it. The two middle-aged ladies next to me were laughing their heads off throughout as were 90% of the audience members. Even ol' Flabber next to me looked like he was having a jolly good time!

Personally, I found it tired and formulaic. It's my own fault for not having done any research prior to the screening because I kept hoping for it to turn into an action thriller when all it wanted to be was a rom-com focused around 2 spies & an Olsen-twin lookalike.

Also, did I see that right? At the end
did one of the 2 leads shoot the tyre on the VW Beetle while it was on the highway? It wasn't the bad guy, was it? Sure didn't look like it...
My bad, it mentions it on the glossy ticket I have, not the SFF print out. However, it did state so on the SFF page when booking.

This wasn't a normal preview, it was a press screening.

Wholeheartedly agree, what a bliss!

haha the opposite from me! Expected an action thriller I wouldn't like, but got a rom-com that I loved.

I have been at many other previews before and they have never collected my phone.

I actually work in films and only once recently in a very big film I have been asked to hand in my phone while we were in the shoot. And it was ridiculous as well as we were filming in the street and there were papparazzi and passers-by filming with their phones anyway...and not like they were not being allowed to film it and take photos...

Also, do they really think we can film a whole film with a mobile phone?????
I posted the link to the post on FF, whoever kindly shared the code (that made it possible for you to get a ticket) stated that mobile phones would be taken.

and these days whole films are being shot on mobiles

Yes, it was definitely mentioned on the post on Free Films. I certainly knew it was going to happen. I had this before, it happens at huge press screenings in Leicester Square more than anywhere else, and it usually isn't a big deal to get your phone back in one piece.

I think his nanna called him Frank, so I am guessing it's an abbreviation for his three names?
