Oh my goodness - lots more cake talk - really need to get some cake today...

I had my heart set on their delicious Victoria Sandwich only to arrive and found they had none left I was gutted it was to be my treat for 6 weeks of being good!
I broke my diet with a slice of St Clements cake but it wasn't worth it and now back on the diet!
What is it with you ladies and Victoria sponge? It's so boring, it's like a non-cake! Sorry, each to her own, but to me it's like apple crumble, which I absolutely refuse to eat as it's so plain. Now, enliven the fruit layer with, say, some blackberries (or preferably something else altogether) and jazz up the topping with wholemeal flour, crushed roasted hazelnuts, oats, cinnamon, etc and you're talking.
OK so I know that there are lots more exciting things out there than a Victoria Sponge, but sometimes you just need something classic - simple but effective. I'm all up for Apple Crumble too - preferably warm with some really good vanilla ice cream. And yes, with cinnamon please. Throw in the blackberries and hazelnuts too if you want... As long as it's GOOD cake, even if it's simple, it can blow your mind.

Why do they do this when I no longer work near there?! Hmpf!

Thought of you this afternoon because I saw the ideal massive lockable cake container at House of Fraser, oxford st!
Aw thanks Sydney :) I'll have to go and check it out. I have a suspicion though that it might be the one I already have but it won't fit in my freezer

It's likely that they'll have more though, so I'm DEF going to check it out tomorrow after work... need to go to Zara anyway, so two birds... well that's my excuse! Thanks for thinking of me!
