It was kind of funny, they sent us all upstairs to the balcony of screen 11 first as the holding area, then we all had to follow one usher (a bit like the rat catcher of Hamelin) downstairs to the normal entrance of the same screen. It was a FMUKkers fest tonight, saw tilly, sat next to jpeg and a_person, had milkchocmonkey and prettyxcool in front, was waved at by hdaniel82 from afar, and on the way out encountered 5rannoch and tufty! Funnily enough, they collected the tickets after the film on the way out so I had to dodge them as I had managed to lose my printout between showing it and sitting down, LOL. Had to borrow jpeg's printout twice just so I could b*y some food and go to the loo as they wouldn't have let me in again without!

It was the big screen at the Vue Greenwich again, the same we had for the Pacific preview with Sky, only minus the popcorn and free water. Saw red carpet action instead, lots of it was just watching Jake Gyllenhall getting kissed by fans, but they did do some interviews as well, showed some clips from the film and some freerunning acrobatics at Westfield. Apparently this was the world premiere not only watched in the UK but all over the world and also online? The presenter had a few questions for the director and actors, and the questions all came from Italy or Mexico! The satellite quality wasn't the best but the film quality was perfect. Someone in the cinema introduced the film quickly as well and he forgot the movie name, LOL!

Fab film. Totally non-sensical but great fun. The action sequences were superb, and Alfred Molina provided great comic relief inmidst the pathos. Thorougly enjoyed it, and Jake Gyllenhaal is a bit of a feast for the eyes, I must say!

Enlarge photo .Arterton, who plays the feisty Princess Tamina in the Disney blockbuster, made her grand entrance at Westfield London in a glittering Valentino gown, embroidered with beads.

"It's nice to see a Disney princess that's not a damsel in distress. She's such a good role model for little girls who watch this," said the 24-year-old on the red carpet.

Gyllenhaal got the biggest screams, as thousands of fans packed the shopping centre, which had been transformed to look like a Persian city, to catch a glimpse of the 29-year-old actor, who undertook a tough training regime to portray rogue prince Dastan and mark his debut as an action hero.

"It feels very good. I have to say I am enjoying myself," he said.

The star of films such as Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain is getting used to the attention on his impressive physique.

"I don't think I ever expected that much attention. I think it was more like I tried to train to be able to look like I was, the character in the video game, and that I was able to do the stunts that were asked of me," he added.

Director Mike Newell was highly impressed with his talented leads.

"Jake was terrific. He worked so hard to make himself into Dastan. Gemma was adorable. When I first started working with her, she was 21 and three months out of drama school," he revealed.

Set in the mystical lands of Persia, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, released on Friday May 21, is an epic action-adventure telling the story of Prince Dastan and Princess Tamina's race against dark forces to protect an ancient dagger that can twist time.

*Smashes head into desk*

OK, thank you, two films in the summer already so redundant, generic, stupid, poorly made, with awful reliance on appalling CGI, no interest in breaking any mould, just happy to be dumb, loud and incoherent.
The fact that this is the second time in just over a month Gemma Arterton has walked through sand and not eroded the wood of her acting is amazing, but jeez, when Ben Kin, sorry, SIR Ben Kingsley is shamefully awful, you have to worry.
Alas the sole good thing in this film is that Jake Gyllenhaal's accent ain't half bad, and he's always an enjoyable lead, even when his character is as bland as anything.

You must have an awful headache after smashing your head into that desk, I think you should have a lie down, EthanRunt, LOL. Has someone got a bandage smiley please?

For the record, I thought the CGI was amazing!

What fun!

It was really nice to meet other FMUK members at the Greenwich screening! Sitting together was fun too!

I thought the movie was great. Loved the special effects and all the free running!...The red carpet performance of the free running was amazing! Wish I could do that ha!

Back to the film...Lots of action, adventure and of course a Disney film is not without a happy ending.

8/10 from me

I was at Westfield yesterday and there was nothing there at all so lots of working through the night to get it done. I still think its funny to have a premiere in a shopping mall, no matter how high end it is. 8O

I quite enjoyed the film, a couple of hours of hokum and fantasy with some good action sequences. I do wish they would spend as much time on the script as they do the FX, stunt training etc. The Raiders films manage to have both action and a good script, so its a shame some of these other adventure films cant do the same.

on another note, I knew so many people who would have loved to have seen it but couldnt get tickets, such a shame when the cinema wasn't full.

I didn't get to see any of you guys as the middle and back part of the cinema was pretty packed, but I did think of you all vx

8/10

Yes, the lips and words were out of synch at the Leeds light, which was not as busy as I expected, and there were two full rows (or premium seating) supposedly reserved. They did not take the tickets away, although there were two 'bouncers' at the door - not the usual cinema tickets.

I thought this was a 'ripping good yarn', and reminiscent of Raiders of the Lost Arc & Jewel of the Nile type films. I agree about Ben Kingsley being a bit flat, but he is just doing pretty weak parts these days. Alfred Molina played an entertaining but pretty mad character (what a difference between this role and the one in An Education!).

Looking back on the Red Carpet stuff - I was just staggered that Mike Newell looked so 'normal', middle aged. If he walked past me in the street, Post Office or the bank, I'd have never have him down as a film director for a mega-budget movie...

Really enjoyed this.

As someone else said its hokum, but well made, fun hokum.

CGI is less obtrusive than most modern blockbusters, and seemed to broaden the scope of the movie in a Gladiator way rather than be the whole reason for the film.

Script wasn't too bad apart from clunky Iraq war references and there were some decent characters to root for/boo. Especially Alfred Molina who seemed to get all the best lines and laughs and must be worth an extra star in anyones review.

Only downside was fact cinema (Bury) was less than half full, sure many, many people would have loved those tickets.

Yet again thanks to tarantinoed for mine. o/

Remind me not to come with slow walkers - I got there 20 minutes later than I wanted, then one of my party was waiting upstairs, so went upstairs to be sent downstairs again! Why she could not wait in the foyer as instructed! hmm!

Anyway, it was lovely to catch up with Beate, a_person and milkchocmonkey. Sorry, did not know that it was you jpeg - tut tut a_person, you should have introduced us!! :P

Once settled, enjoyed the interview (although out of synch, which they apologised for), and loved the film! It was fab, great effects and action. 9/10
