My first preview must've been when I was a kid and lived in Rotterdam (Netherlands), as they sometimes had special previews you could see with a page of the paper. I don't remember what it would've been though (possibly Babe in 1995?), the most recent one we did like that (which was still before I moved to the UK and discovered this forum) was Bad Santa in 2003.

Mine was Waking Ned way back in 1998 up in Hemel Hempsted. In those days you used to obtain a code by ringing an automated number, give your details and take along the newspaper. Think it was with the Times. I must be one of the veterans (and showing my age!)

Hahaha... My first preview was an animated kid's film called 'The Road To El Dorado' is was an awesome film, then again I was like 7!
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

We are What we are, subtitled ........er horror?????

One of the worst films that I have seen about a family of cannibals, I walked out before it ended at that point they had eaten no one and the storyline was somewhere between pointless and none existant.

If you every get the chance to watch this film do yourself a favour and don't.

I've seen some fab films since though :)

A mate of mine was a DJ back in late 90s and he used to get promotional discs etc from a company called beatwax. Well Beatwax also ran some preview screenings and I managed to see "Being John Malkovich" at the GFT. Around that same time I saw Toy Story 2 via Beatwax. Beatwax became something else moviesfirst or firstmovies or something like that. I managed to get tickets for a few people from work to see Gladiator at the Trafford Centre in Manchester in 2000. I think I kind of lost track of film previews until a few years ago. It's great to get a freebie and I prefer going to the cinema and not having to sit through 40 mins of trailers.

Donnie Darko...many, MANY years ago. I'd heard so much hype from the US and the screening was very hush hush and at the Cornerhouse in Manchester.

It's still one of the most memorable screenings I've ever attended...and there was free popcorn and refreshments.

yogi wrote: I can just about match that with my first screening which was Young Einstein the Yahoo Serious comedy - no mask unfortunately. Me and my mum were approached my a clipboard wielding woman in Bury town centre and asked if we enjoyed going to the movies - I was crazy about films, as I am now and a few days later me and my mate were sat laughing our heads off for in the local cinema. Not sure how good it is now, but it was hilarious at the time.
I saw Young Einstein in the cinema as a young 'un but unfortunately my big brother had to p*y for the 'privilege'.

I can assure you that it isn't half as amusing to watch as a jaded adult...

(It's bloody awful!)
