If he was never an indie darling, he's even further away now...lol
Anyway, Jeff Bridges next film is True Grit and then Pablo, which are hardly hollywood tentpole films

Re: Tron Legacy
Well it's 10pm and the embargo is lifted now.
We arrived at the O2 at 6.30pm which we thought was plenty of time but there was already an almighty queue of people snaking across the foyer. But when we were let in, got our 3D glasses, told to keep hold of our tickets and switch our phones off, we still found great seats at the back, at the end of the row for a swift exit - and my God I wish I could have made the exit earlier, but OH kinda liked the film. I also had to queue 20 minutes to b*y a hotdog! At least we got some free popcorn at our seats. The red carpet footage was boring, just some boy bands getting interviewed and saying "Is there anything better than 2D! Erm, I mean 3D..."
I stopped caring about the plot after 45 minutes, maybe my eyes can't compute 3D films at the moment but why do they have to be so dark? The whole film was way too dark for my liking so after a while I stopped concentrating, gave my eyes a good rest and had a snooze. I still have no idea what was going on in the film and I couldn't care less.

Re: Tron Legacy
My review from Last Night at the Empire:
The plot was a little generic to be honest. Son goes looking for father. Clu building an army to take over our world, etc, but it was still awesome nonetheless. The sound design shook the entire room. Whenever the light-disc came close to camera, the room shook. Whenever a Transport flew over head, we feel its engines around us. Unfortunately this overbassed atmosphere was also part of its downfall, as it drowned out alot of dialogue (like when Kevin, Sam and Quorra are heading down an elevator to escape from Clu, i knew some important information was given in the dialogue, i just couldnt hear it over the music and sound effects (the mix was all wrong). Hopefully that was our cinema (although the same happened when they showed us some of it at San Diego Comic Con
Also the pacing was completely wrong in my opinion. We get alot of useful flashbacks to when Clu and Tron himself were helping Kevin build up the whole Tron universe, and the betrayal's that happened. All useful information, but they were all told within like 3 minutes of eachother. They weren't spread around the movie enough to feel natural and finding out more as we go along. We literally see them board a ship to get to the Portal (the way in and out of the Tron Universe), then the entire movie just stops, and every character goes into expositional mode. I'm all for character development, but not when the characters have to explain the development to us. It felt very shoehorned and was a real pace deformer
Also, character motives arent given enough development at all. For example, Tron, Clu, and about 5 other programs team up against Kevin, Sam and Quorra and have an awesome light-cycle-plane-flying-dogfight-battle. But Tron himself literally gets told 1 line from Kevin: "What have you become", and that suddenly makes him turn on Clu in a heartbeat. And you cant make the argument that he wasnt really on Clu's side, as we see him Beat the Crap out of Quorra while the trio are snooping through Clu's army. It felt very forced to me.
I will say however that the conclusion between Kevin and Clu was sort of unexpected. I mean you could kind of see it coming as it was set up earlier, but up until then everything seemed to be following a "Typical Disney Formula" and heading towards a happy ending. Father was going to be reunited with Son, and Boy gets girl on the outside. Sunset ending (well that still happened, but still). But BOOM, THAT happens. It kinda made the journey feel a little stale and "not worth it", but to me it was an unexpected turn as thats what we all expected, and i love movies that dont do what you expect. Also it made Old Bridges bad-ass with his awesome world manipulating powers. After that, im glad Quorra got a great bittersweet ending the final montage put a warm smile on my face (even though it felt cheesy)
Although it brings up a contradiction. Old Kevin isn't that powerful when we first meet him. He's imprisoned disheveled, and talking about how the world had gotten beyond his control. Then when the martial arts fight at the "End of Line" bar happens, he literally becomes Neo and takes out tons of programs. Then he's back as useless and tired, then the ending he is Neo again. It didn't seem focused to me. Maybe i need to watch it again.
Also, the End of Line bar scenes give us a fantastic cameo by Michael Sheen (playing Zuse). He was hilarious and really sold the "In Hiding program" character. And when Clu's soldiers break in and fight Kevin, Quorra and Sam, he just dances to the fight in the most hilarrious ways. Its too bad his cameo had to end with a bang. Also this same scene gave us a cameo by Daft Punk themselves which i really appreciated, but they didnt do much unfortunately
Overall i would give the movie a solid 7/10. I think it was a bit overhyped to be honest, but once it shines, it REALLY shines with awesomness. The whole of the Tron Arena battle put a huge grin on my face. The stunts and visuals were stunning and worthy of blowing away a fully grown man, but just like Avatar, its not much if it didn't have awesome spectacle and 3d)

Lol. I type so fast that my hands literally disconnect from the brain. The brain calls out for them to slow down, but my Hands are teenagers and wreckless. I know this because they still touch me in places.
^ Not to be taken seriously
Beate wrote:interesting word, LOL.TheOnes wrote: ruinited with Son,

Re: Tron Legacy
Well at least the film is still as dark & dull as the original. I'll remember to keep my expectations low for my screening on Tuesday.Beate wrote: I stopped caring about the plot after 45 minutes, maybe my eyes can't compute 3D films at the moment but why do they have to be so dark? I think hollywood have gone overboard on 3D now. They're making 3D movies just for the hell of it & because they can, not because it adds to the movie experience. I actually avoid certain films in 3D now.

Re: Tron Legacy
Oh and I attended the premiere tonight. It was
Nice to walk to walk the blue carpet and we were given allocated seats which turned out quite well.
I was expecting a lot and was disappointed. There was not much of a plot and it took a long time to get going.I did want to leave early on but oh wanted to see the ending!
I'm guessing there will be a sequel as it was left open. I will say I was impressed with it visually but disappointed with the plot .

Re: Tron Legacy
The movie used the IMAX size screen to full effect, and some of the scenery was vast if rather repetitive dark blue, which got yawney after ten minutes.
though the effects were fab, the story made little sense.
Another probelm is where to dictate where laws of physics act. Remember Speed Racer? Cars could do just about anything, and we werent told what their limitations were beforehand... so there was no tension regarding who was winning or losing. thats one problem with tron, theres no benchmark for powers and abilities, so you could write in Kevin Flynn's God powers at the end willynilly...which build no tension really. why didnt he use them earlier ay?
Also, virtually no humour or character development.story of 2010 in film then!
Also..another bloody SUPERMASSIVE BIG EXPLOSION at the end of the movie. what a cop out hackneyed ending of 2010!
Also, whats real and not real? i dunno there were no clear but boundaries, so anything could be possible if you get me, which really doesnt build for a plot.
the best way to think of the movie was a subplot of the Matrix, in a programme world built by flynn.
