Re: The Runaways
Went to a screening for this last night . Wasn't keen on going as i have a cold but i'm glad that i went to see it even though my brother thought it was rubbish.
The soundtrack was really good, even though i'm not really into rock and i had never heard of Joan Jett or the Runaways before, i still enjoyed the music.
Towards the end, where they had just got a record contract then broke up was strange as it seemed to end the film, like there was nowhere else to go with the story but it may have happened like that so who knows.
Overall though, i enjoyed Kristen Stewart's performance and it was nice seeing her do something different to her usual roles.

Saw this a couple of nights ago and was suprised to find myself really enjoying it. It seemed a little disjointed in parts and the ending was almost quite abrupt, but it was an entertaining movie nonetheless.
Like others have said, it was good seeing Kristen Stewert doing something different and she was good. Better than Dakota Fanning in my opinion.

Re: The Runaways
Hello I am new to the Forums...but I thought this Film was just awful...the swearing got to me..but when they started to throw dog turds at each other, I left the Cinema...not done that for an awful long while.
I wasn't the first to leave.
Sorry about this post, if anyone enjoyed the film.
best wishes

Re: The Runaways
These marketing people are really getting really ridiculous now, they are spending advertising money for TV ads for The Runaways saying "It's the film you've been waiting for all year" "5 stars". Shouldn't they concentrate that money on some music magazine, music website etc?

Re: The Runaways
lool me too val!
not an all girl band, i hasten to add.
i do admire Joan for going for it, a lot. i wish i had, i even had the chances. i tihnk its worth pointing out that she wasnt some working class hero who struggled against all the odds,if she could afford guitars and time off working in a job at 18, but nevertheless she put in the effort and morevoer she had the self control to keep it all together at such a young age that killed off lots of her contemporaries. I admire her character, she had her feet on the ground.
the role of Jet seems almost too good for a kristen vampire girl who hasnt done anything like what Joan has.

Re: The Runaways
Its a long time since I've seen a film where I've openly drooled, lusted after and ogled one of its stars............
Yes, I'm talking about Joan Jett........no, no, let me finish!
I'm talking about Joan Jett's iconic Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. What a fantastic guitar - I'd kill for one!
Here's a link to something similar being put through its paces
I thought Stewart and Fanning were excellent in this film. I enjoyed the music more than the actual portrayal of the development and decline of the band, though that was interesting. The film was obviously written mainly from the perspective of Joan Jet and Cherrie Curry. It would have been nice to have more info about the rest of the band, especially during and after the breakup, looked at from their points of view.
I haven't seen it myself (yet) but apparently there's a documentary type film called Edgeplay which gives a more balanced, less skewed, view of the Runaways. Check out this link:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216731/
That is now firmly on my list of things to see.
8.5 out of 10 from me.

Re: The Runaways
Preston, I think there's a competition to win one of those guitars and a private screening for 20 people.
I didn't apply as I didn't want to lose all my friends! (Hahaha.....sorry I had to slip that in)
