Re: Free Days Out - post them here!
From 18 - 22 February, in the school half-term holidays, some unusual researchers will try to gather everything there is to know about the Museum, in just 5 days! Come and help them at our fun interactive event as you become Curious Collectors.
Curious Collectors - Free event
18-22 February 2013
Drop in 11.00-16.30
Darwin Centre atrium
.Meet in the Darwin Centre and take a trail through our amazing building, stopping at the Collectors stations to record the sights, sounds and secrets of the Museum.
Create pictures and audio recordings as you explore our specimens and collections. Your discoveries about the Museum will be stored in drawers and cabinets in a growing archive of knowledge and go on show in displays in the Darwin Centre.
Curious Collectors activity highlights:
Picture Machine installation - add your pictures to the colourful moving display
Sound Booth - record sounds you have heard or imagined in the Museum
Word Catcher - write and record your stories and Museum memories on camera
Visitor Collection station - be collected yourself, with your vital statistics
Staff Collection station - dress up as Museum staff and go on show
Curious Collectors is the third in our season of innovative art-and-play events. For this event, artists Andy Field, Gary Campbell and Jeannine Inglis Hall were inspired by our scientists' research field trips, our famous collections and the Museum building itself.
‘From your first memory of the Museum to your favourite specimen, Curious Collectors is a fantastic way to really get to know one of London’s best loved institutions. Kids and grown-ups can learn more about the Museum and natural history, and have a lot of fun at the same time.’ Sarah Punshon, Programme Curator.

10,000+ pairs of FREE Ideal Home Show tix
Online code, from 2.30pm Thu 31 Jan
What: At least 10,000 pairs of Ideal Home Show tickets

It's first come, first served. Be warned, weekend tickets will go quickly.

PS If you’re saying why at 2:30pm? Whenever we pick a time someone doesn’t like it. 2:30pm is one of our highest traffic times in the day, as many access us from work, and it's just before the school run. Importantly too the MSE Team is on hand to manage it if anything goes wrong. Sorry we can’t please everyone.

Online code, from 2.30pm Thu 31 Jan
What: At least 10,000 pairs of Ideal Home Show tickets
How: Martin will be speaking, so we’ve blagged at least 10,000 pairs of free tickets worth £12-£18.50 (on the door price) each to the Ideal Home Show at London's Earl's Court, valid for one day.
It's first come, first served. Be warned, weekend tickets will go quickly.
The show's on daytimes Fri 15 Mar-Mon 1 Apr 2013, 10am-6pm (until 9pm on Thursdays).
The code will be published here at 2.30pm on Thu 31 Jan
To get your free pair of tickets, come back to this page then.
Tickets will be emailed to you within five days. You'll need to print and bring them on the day. There are at least 500 pairs of tickets available for every day of the show.
Come to Martin’s live appearances & MoneySaving Q&A
This year Martin will be appearing at the exhibition giving money saving tips and advice. We may even have a MoneySavingExpert.com exhibit (if it happens, do come and say hi). Martin's talk times at the Super Theatre are:
Fri 15 Mar - 12noon
Sun 17 Mar - 12noon
Mon 18 Mar - 2pm
Thu 21 Mar - 2pm
Wed 27 Mar - 3pm
There's a maximum of two tickets per household. Children aged 15 and under go free (max one child per adult), though you'll need to ask for a ticket when booking, or get one from the box office on the day you visit.
What do I get? Two free weekday/weekend tickets

Free Lunchtime Concerts in the City of London
As part of the City of London Festival between now and the 27th of March you can attend free concerts in and around the Square Mile. If you happen to work or live close by then this would be a nice way to spend one lunchtime afternoon. See the page linked for dates and details of events.
