Does anyone else think the title of this movie makes no sense? Dark of the Moon? What the hell? Dark Side of the Moon perhaps?

A few words on RHW, as she seems to be taking a slaughtering for her performance. Remember the competition I won for the meet & greet with her? We had to stand there for well over an hour, waiting for her. Did we meet her? No. Did we greet her? No. She selfishly ignored us and left the Paramount lady that organised the whole thing in a terribly awkward position. She said she would attempt to get some things signed for us. But it's clear, even at this stage, she can't act, she can't public speak, and she's completely selfish. Sounds like she has all the aspects to make it big in Hollywood. I would like to say something on behalf of Michael Bay, however. He came over, shook our hands, asked us about ourselves and allowed us to get some pictures with him. Yeh, he can't direct a film or build a narrative for shit, but he seems like a nice enough guy.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a Michael Bay film. Loud, messy, overlong, with bad dialogue and rubbish acting.
I didn't hate it as much as I disliked the 2nd film. Mainly because the 3D is actually quite effective for once and the final act has some decent action in it, but it is still a bad film.

Sadly there's more to dislike about it. The build-up to the big action scene is fairly tedious and drawn out and it's often difficult to work out why certain things are happening.
It does seem a little unfair to single out Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for her bad acting because no-one comes out of this with much dignity in the acting stakes. I can at least respect her attempts to try and do something she has no experience or training of. Less forgivable are the many experienced actors who should know better. For the first hour and a bit, several usually excellent character actors seem to be in some sort of competition to see who can over-act the worst. With John Turturro, John Malkovich, Alan Tudyk and Ken Jeong all having a go. I'll just say that The Hangover's Jeong just about wins. Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel (the poor man's Timothy Olyphant) just do what they did in the first two films (show up). Also the less said about a certain real-life astronaut's cameo the better.
Worst of all is Shia LaBeouf. Sam Witwicky should be the character the audience identify with, in amongst the robots, government officials and soldiers and that's exactly what he was in the first two films. An innocent kid thrown into an absurd situation. In the 3rd film however, he's become an arrogant, boastful prick. Constantly banging on about how he saved the world and got a medal from Obama. Whinging and shouting when people don't realise how important he is. And boy does he do a lot of annoying screaming and shouting in this. As a result it's hard to care about his character. Also along with RHW's lack of acting talent, it's hard to believe in their relationship. LaBoeuf's relationship with Bumblebee has more believable emotion in it. Of course we are supposed to want them to find their way back to each other but the truth is it's hard to care. She could have been bumped off and I doubt anyone would have been too upset.

Luckily things pick up a little for the climax and there is some good action, excellent (if overly busy at times) special effects and an effective use of 3D for once. Having said that the final section does still go on far too long, despite being the best part of the film.
On the whole, Transformers 3 isn't a total disaster but it is a bad film. Some of it is fun, but a lot of it isn't. If you loved the first 2 films you'll probably love it. If you hated them, nothing here is going to change your opinion.

At least the action's better according to what everyone's saying! I did see the trailer tonight at the Imax and the 3D action had much more clarity than the last 2 when it was all a mess of metals

The reminder email for tonight's screening from Virgin Media says:

We're expecting this screening to be very busy and, due to security reasons, the doors will close at 6.30pm.

Well that's at least something. There is nothing more annoying than latecomers.

But they say that all the time, late comers will not be admitted.

some people looked like they were having bag searches, but that could be big bags, Ididn't. Phones were asked to be turned off but that was it. They did have the security people there.
