Oh and was I the only one thinking a better thing to do with the diamond, rather than throw it into the sea in a moment of corny sentimentality would have been to sell the diamond at auction and give the money to a life boat charity? I'm sure that's a much better way to honour the memory of Jack and all the victims!
I never thought she was honouring Jack by throwing the diamond in the ocean, but more that she wanted to give it to him. I agree it was a waste though, but eh she was 101 years old, maybe not all there anymore in her head

Agreed!

I saw this at Cineworld Haymarket and they lived up to their reputation as worst cinema ever as there was no heating in Screen 1 at all. I couldn't see any improvement by using 3D and at times it looked ridiculous with out of focus backs of people protruding off the screen. Surely the point of 3D is to show depth and perspective and when this is out of focus it makes no sense.
At the end of the marathon screening I asked to see the manager and he took his sweet time arriving in the foyer. He said they lease the premises and agreed there are a number of 'issues' like no heating and mice and it is far from ideal. I asked for comp tickets and he obliged and he was eager to say I could use them in ANY Cineworld as he knew that Haymarket would not be my first choice. So the moral of the story is that with Cineworld you must make your complaint there and then. I had a long conversation with their most unhelpful customer service team by email in the past (after the mice scurried around during a film) and they can be a total pain when it comes to dealing with complaints.
Nice to see canadian_turtle and her friend who invited me to sit with them.

I'm glad to hear the manager was more helpful than the online team to you, hopefully you have a better experience at another Cineworld location with your comp tickets!

Beate wrote:The Cineworld O2 was nice and warm, with plenty of legroom and all other mod cons. I know that it's not as central as Haymarket but I was nevertheless surprised that everyone seemed to be flocking there. Surely the O2 is a newer, nicer cinema and at a starting time of 7.30pm, reachable from Central London too.
Long journey for a lot of us though, Beate. Fine for a weekend morning film but evenings it is a trek. But I agree it is a nice place especially when compared to dreadful Haymarket.

I don't think Jack ever really had a chance though. With all the time lost being stuck down below and so many boats only half (or even less) full, he wouldn't have gotten on a boat. He was all about getting Rose safe, it wouldn't have mattered to him much anymore if she was already (reasonably) safe in a life boat.
I know but romantic crap aside, if he'd been on his own he'd have got on the door and might have survived.
he might not have got on the door, it might have been taken by someone else! and Rose might have fallen out the boat and died anyway.
There was no guarentee, either way, that they might have both lived.
Plus, who is really rational at this sort of thing I wonder.
