Saw this tonight, only my 3rd film of the year at cinemas but there is no way I will miss any scifi movies such as this. As usual, Tom Cruise still proves himself to be an eternal A-list star by just being Tom Cruise albeit a more subdued one here but that's what the plot demanded. This turned out to be a right old fusion of everything we've seen before. However, it was still good satisfying sci fi. I know it offers nothing new in concepts and twists, in fact its borrowed several ideas from other scifi movies, most notable in my opionion are from Moon, Silent Running, Wall-E, Matrix, and Solaris (or its original version which I havent seen). But despite some predictable plot revelations, I loved the mood, vision and panache in its execution.

With so many angles covered in sci fi, its hard to come up with something new but this deserves a grade A for effort.

Saw this yesterday and have to say oh and I were disappointed.

I'm a huge Tim cruise fan so thought this was going to be good but I was mistaken. Could not understand what was really going on and it was just a tad slow. Shame really as could have had potential.

and whats with all the after earth movies coming out? I count three this year, Elyz, Obliv and After Earth. Seems to be a trend post 2012.

Saw Oblivion over the weekend (I won 2x IMAX Gallery tickets at the Odeon in Liverpool One!) and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

Although I have to say it could almost have been called 'Moon 2'! It also borrowed slightly from the Matrix and even had it's own Star Wars sequence (X-Wings)!

Despite all the almost-plagiarism and non-orginal ideas, it was very enjoyable, non-predicatable and visually stunning film. I've heard some reviewers saying it's difficult to comprehend exactly what's going on, but I found it fairly easy to understand. If you're a fan of sci-fi I don't think you'll have any problems with it.

mm rather than being difficult to understand, the problem with the movie is it provides few details about the backgrounds of characters, backgrounds which seem pivotal to the plot at one point.

I didn't hate this at all, which really surprised me. Not a huge fan of Olga Kurylenko, but I do love Morgan Freeman and love staring at Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Wouldn't watch it outside the cinema though. The sound mix is terrible in that regard, I was turning the volume up and down every five seconds! Andrea Riseborough was a particular offender in that regard, but also Morgan Freeman, and when you can't hear Morgan Freeman you know there's a problem.

Visually stunning, really enjoyed it from a design standpoint, won't be watching it again any time soon but glad I watched it.

I saw this last night and really enjoyed the film: great story, good cast and great visuals 8.5/10. Good to see TC doing some interesting, quality films like this and Jack Reacher.
