Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
Milton Keynes Odeon was full. Free Popcorn and 3D glasses. As we went into the Screening, they told us about the delayed start. Cinema kept us fully informed and at about 6.30pm, we were told again that it would not start until 7pm, and it was not the Cinema's fault, and that Sony had requested the delay to the screening and that it was a countrywide delay.
I must be a lightweight, because I enjoyed this film. I thought Ian McShane was excellent as Blackbeard. Loved the Scenes in London with Richard Griffiths.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
I realy enjoyed this film, however i do agree that the 3D made the film darker and i actualy took them off for the most part as i was struggleing to focus, this film was no where near as good as the previous outings but dont let that put you off its still very much worth a watch like Mr G i too will watch this again without the 3D, Glasgow was packed out thought it was a great touch that they brought out the seats for extras very well done to the staff @ Braehead, Thank you Yinster always great to see you and OH there although i have terrible manners will realy need to learn your non user names
My sister managed to get a ticket after all which was great 4:30 sky finaly coughed up a returned ticket just goes to show it pays to check last minute
This film for me had lost some of the Charisma that the previous ones had most definately due to the lack of Orlando and Kiera imo but as always Jonny Depp was bloody fantastic i realy do love that guy hated him when i first seen him in film but truly have been converted overall i would rate this 7/10

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
Saw this at a packed out O2 cinema last night. We didnt get in there that early or too late and already the better seats were all gone. Ended up being 3 rows from the back of the lower section seats and finished unfortunately with a crooked neck by the end of the night. Think perhaps should've scooted off up to the balcony seats that they opened up to accomodate the hoards of people that turned up. Ah well nevermind, cant really complain as it was free and you got popcorn (which substitued as my tea last night as even tho I didnt eat it all, filled me right up).
Anyway, whilst I thought the 3D effects were great, they did make it all a bit dark as mentioned by others. The film itself unfortuantely didnt hit the spot for me. I hope they dont make anymore, altho references by Barbosa and Angelica could mean otherwise.
For some reason didnt feel right without Will and Elizabeth in it. Blackbeard seemed like a delicate flower compared to the likes of Barbosa and Davey Jones and their crews in the first two. Whilst there was a lot of action in some places, there was not a lot of comedy like before. Its a shame as I really wanted it to be fantastic.
A 6/10 from me....... sorry Jack!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
Although the ticket said 6.30pm for 7pm start when I arrived at 6.15pm at Ocean Terminal there was already a small queue. Started to let people in at 6.25pm but my friend had got stuck in traffic and I was afraid that by the time she arrived there would be no seats left as the queue was now right back to the entrance.
The girl who was taking the tickets was really nice as when I explained she let me go in and put my jacket over two seats and then come back out to wait on my friend. By the time she arrived the place was about full so unfortunately unable to keep seats for Marjoreemarjora and friends who ended up having to sit near the front.
The place was packed out and, as usual, folk with kids - all come at the start of the film looking for seats, chatting, and blocking our view!
As for the film I enjoyed it better than number three but not as good as first and second. Ian Mcshane was not very sinister as Blackbeard. Loved the mermaids and the 3D effect was good. Johnny Depp always good as Jack Sparrow but think film number 5 would be stretching it too much.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
for me... the movie is better than the 3rd, almost as good as the 2nd... but the 1st is the definitely the best (isn't it always???) I guess quite breath of fresh air with the new characters Angelica, Blackbeard.... but I missed those 2 guys (one of them with the glass eyeball kept coming out???
) not enough suspense and very dark I think especially with the 3D glass on. I love the depth of the waterfall/edges but not a necessary 3D for the movie..... why why. they should spend the big budget on getting much interesting shot with more content of the story. Loved Penelope but why didn't I feel the chemistry between her and JD (may be I'm still hanging on to his love hate relationship to Keira!) hehehe
but with free popcorn.... and nice big screen, my 1st time in greenwich cineworld (always try to avoid as much as I can... too far from my place or uni!) but since didn't get the Sundays tix, we went anyway. I'm glad we did...
7/10 from us
Have a good weekend guys
ps: why did they even bother sending the time change at 5.30pm when most of the peeps already left their work/home for the screening. I didn't even realise this email (went to SPAM) till reading someone mention about the change of time email! got home really late from SE10 to W12... go figure!

Should say I got to Romford at about 6:30, went straight in and already the whole central segment was packed out.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
Saw this last night at a very oversubscribed L'pool 1 Odeon, lots of people turned away. At 6.10 when I joined the queue it was 2/3 wide and very, very long. I think I was amongst the last few to get in. The screening room was one of the smallest, having only 149 seats. The security was tight too, bag checks on the way in, 2 guys in suits standing up inside all the way through, watching the audience. Not to mention the cinema staff up in the gallery also on watch.
I loved this film but hated the 3D, over 2 hours of it and I left the cinema with a banging headache. POTC is a good action film in its own right and doesnt need 3D to enhance it. Also thought it made lots of scenes too dark which spoilt the overall effect for me. Kept taking the glasses off to check.
I liked that fact that Ian Mcshane and Geoffrey Rush had bigger roles in this film, they played excellent parts. Suprisingly I also liked Penelope Cruz's
character. For me, it seemed that Jonny Depp's portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow lacked some of the quirkiness he posessed in the previous films and that was a bit of a dissapointment 'cos I love Captain Jack!
I would watch this film again, but in 2D.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides
Can't really add much more to what's already been said, although I particularly agree with the lack of necessity for 3D & the distinct lack of action compared to the other films.
I've liked the Pirates of Caribbean series, however despite the wonderful Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and Ian Mcshane, it seems to have lost it's edge for me somewhat in this overlong instalment.
Having been on the University of Greenwich site whilst they were doing the filming, it was interesting to see the final scenes.
