Sorry SH that you missed the beginning, they did indeed start at 10:15am which I think is a very selfish and heartless act by the cinema staff/management. A lot of people would have made long journeys and is a slap in the face for those that b*ght food from their foyer too. Not to mention the poor excited kiddies looking forward to it (like raineylb 6 year old kid). I would be insulted for being treated like that, its blatant discrimination. Alright SH, unclench your fists, I didnt mean to fuel your rage in a physical manner but a complaint is defintitely a good idea
Ok enough downer because I had a most enjoyable morning being in the company of 2 enigmatic girls, Valda and Prettyxcool, arent I a lucky guy

And thanks to Prettyxcool for letting me ride on her ticket as there would have been no preview screening for me at all this morning.
I did have to catch 3 trains to get there and my first train was cancelled which meant I had to wait another half hour for the next one. But thankfully, I have a good habit of never depending on the last trains to get me somewhere on time, I always take the train before it. So instead of arriving planned 9:40am, I arrived 10:10am with the thought that I had of course 20 minutes to settle in and chat with the girls But just 5 minutes later as I opened my mouth to start a conversartion on the exciting subject of British Rail, we realised the bloody film already started.
Now to be honest, I lost focus at the beginning as I dumbly kept thinking "whoa they started early, lotta people gonna be p*ed off!" "aww, here we go again , 3D. ie 3 times Darker...wait where's the remote control I need to rewind the last 4 minutes, I wasnt listening to the narration

"
The film was very entertaining. Its not reaching anywhere near the heights of the golden and silver eras of Disney but for a modern fare, its definitely good deal of fun. I thought some of the visual set pieces were quite breathtaking. And as this is an animated film, the use of 3d is actually effective in some places but I agree with Valda, it really is unneccessary because apart from the very few moments of "I can touch it!", the 3d was a distraction and of course when the parts of the film is dark, the 3d glasses make it too damn dark. The sidekick characters were immensely funny, particularly Maximus the horse who I can only descibe as a deranged horse who thinks he is a swashbuckling hound. The story was sweet but not exceptional, the humour made up for it.
However, there is still too much pop culture and wink winking at the camera for my liking. The songs are serviceable but extremely bland and unmemorable despite some obvious accompanying visual nods to classics such as "The hills are alive..." and Beauty and the Beast.
I have to nikpik being a big fan of old Disney classics but I still rate this very highly at 8/10
