Well done to everyone who stayed until the end, especially 5rannoch!

Does anyone remember what they said when they would release it?

They said it would be aired on Sky 3D in June, followed by a cinema release, then a DVD release, and after that it would be shown on the Sky Arts channel. There will be plenty of opportunities to see this!

I think 5rannoch should get some kind of award for her performance in attending Swan Lake. Arriving home at 3.40 am is above and beyond the call of duty!

one of the questions in the feedback was how far did you travel, should have been how long did it take?

I really enjoyed it, too, inspite of the interruptions in the first act.
And I am looking forward to the cinema screening of the film they spoke of.

When did you go? When the curtain came down after the ball scene? There wasn't much more after that. What should havd happened is that someone come and explain what was happening and roughly how much longer it would be.

I thorough loved it! Brilliant, amusing, enchanting, absorbing, fascinating, great choreography, fantastic sets, costumes, and those men dancers, WOW, such strength and stamina. The re-takes did not bother me, could watch it all night over and over again, you just can't beat live entertainment. The whole thing: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

I was in First Circle, in the second from back row, but they left the back row empty. Had a great view of the whole show. It was lovely to see so many FMUKers before, and during the interval. But so sorry to have missed you Celini.

On the way out at the end, I found myself following behind the guys from Hustle, Adrian Lester and Marc Warren. Adrian Lester was holding his wife's hand and Marc Warren looked like he was with his mother, and they stood outside ringing for their chauffeur?

I also made it to Little White Lies this morning!

Oh my God I'm so jealous! I love both of those guy, such good character actors. I'm working on a Marc Warren TV thing at the moment, I expect it will be out in the Autumn.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, I love Mathew Bourne's work and am so sorry I never kept up with what he's doing. Dorian Gray was the last one so I'll keep fingers crossed they bring it back cos it looks like another goodie

I was really looking forward to Swan Lake. I've never been to a ballet before, and haven't even seen the original, so I was excited about this.
But I was so disappointed.
Bloody tv productions wind me up, as they have so little regard for the live audience, and when the audience hasn't pa*d anything for the show they are shown very little respect at all. Although nothing has quite matched the prison-like conditions we endured for Million Pound Drop, this experience was really poor for members of the audience.
We did as we were asked, and arrived before 19:15 to be seated by 19:45, but they were disrespectful right from the off by not starting on time, and having three different people give little speeches about how great this was going to be before finally beginning at 20:15.
My main gripe with this whole thing was that there was no warning that they could have to repeat whole sequences. We were warned about some stop-start music in the introduction, but had not idea just how disruptive this was going to be. There was nothing on the ticket about that, and I assumed that 'being filmed for tv' just meant that there would be cameras there capturing a live performance.
Having worked in tv myself I think there is a culture of perfectionism and with recordings it is too easy to just call for another take. I think it would have been much better if they had perhaps done several shows, and then they could have chosen the best sequences from different nights.
Everyone around me was huffing and puffing every time the set got put back back and they repeated the same sequences all over again. As someone who doesn't know the story, I was trying to keep up with what was going on.
It's such a shame, as there were moments when I was really getting into it, and really enjoying it. Then - cut - the music would suddenly stop, the dancers would look around in confusion, and then they would do it all over again. I could see nothing wrong with the performances first time around, but hey what do I know?
We left at about 21:30, thinking that there would be an interval any time soon, so I was quite surprised to read on here that they didn't even break until 22:00. I think it is a total self-indulgent joke that the performance didn't finish until after 23:30.
I'm glad that some people here managed to stay until the end, and that the disruption got better in the second act and that they enjoyed it, but I just felt really frustrated and I wasn't enjoying the experience. I'll wait for the DVD.
I will be very wary of any similar events from Sky in the future.

Cheekyweelassie: I saw the russian ballet co. perform swan lake a few years ago and it was breathtaking but I've never really been impressed with an engligh version of the same performance, although ive seen some good ones they never seem to quite match up!!
