A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

#1 Post by stuartboy » Tue Jul 21, 2015 9:48 pm

WTF?????

Utter utter utter crap.
Whatever possessed me to want to see this?
I cannot believe that I sat through nearly 2 hours of this - what must easily be the worst film this year.

I am in particular thoroughly appalled at a certain scene involving blatant and gratuitous suffering to an animal which gave ABSOLUTELY nothing whatsover to the scene, and was totally unnecessary. Sickening.

I actually stood up at the end and stated in a loud voice, "Thank god for that!". If I'd thought to slow-clap as I departed I would have.

Abysmal.

In that case, I am very pleased the tickets had all run out and I didn't get one. This has been getting good reviews albeit as an arty farty film. It was worse than Sunday Not good!

I notice that clown doesn't mention the hilarity and mirth that comes from a monkey clamped into a frame by its arms and legs whilst it receives electric shocks via electrodes in its brain, causing it clear and abject distress and pain, whilst the vivisectionist stands in the corner of the room taking a pointless and inane telephone call. I'd like to see his justification of how this is remotely funny.

To be honest, the title alone put me off! You must have a faint radar by now on what kind of films you like or dislike?

Believe it or not I'd actually seen the trailer for this at a previous OurScreen screening and had thought that it looked good! Even I have been known to make a mistook.

Whilst shocking, I think I can say with some certainty the monkey's suffering wasn't real! It was certainly unusual and worth thinking about. I liked how it contrasted the absurdness of life with the downright horrifying at the end. It was unexpected and produced really strong emotions especially put up against what came before it. Some really hillarious scenes and some that just didn't go anywhere as far as I could make out. A curious thing.
