X codes

Seeitfirst are sending out single use codes that are impossible to pass on and post here.
Its easy to tell them apart from normal codes, as they all start with an X.

Individual invite codes are typically nine characters long which is longer than the usual code. The link only works from the original email.

Websites sometimes also use these codes but theirs are shorter. The link only works from the original web page.

You can check these codes simply by opening a private/incognito window and copying the link there.

Posting X codes here is wasting everyone's time and putting yourselves on a watch list for possible account deletion.
SIF has a history of deleting accounts for less than this.

I copied the email word for word. It actually says to pass it to family and friends, so no idea!

They mean you can forward the email to F & F. Certainly you don't want everyone to read your emails and there is coding in the email to allow you to book.

I'm sure you're right, steve9862, but the instructions don't make that clear at all. They just talk about passing the link and code on to family and friends, they say nothing about having to forward the original email. There is more than one way to pass on info! I wish they were clearer. It's no wonder people don't realise.

But I tested it and followed the instructions as if I was the friend receiving the details, not by a forwarded email either. I typed in manually the website address, and put in the code without the X as they said the browser might enter it already, and it gives me the booking page. So I do not understand. Sorry.

Sorry, I feel out of sorts here and a little confused!

The coding in the email at the very least sets a cookie. This means that once you open the link from the email your browser will always open the link regardless.
If you open a private/incognito window there are no cookies set and is then a genuine test for whether the link works.
Depending on browser its
ctrl shift p
or
ctrl shift n
and then paste the link into the address bar.

I used a different laptop and typed in the web address in a private browser. I also copied and sent the details to a couple of friends, and no issues reported there. So I do not know.

The other point is the following.

Please note this code is valid for up to four tickets only

That means 4 tickets total on that code, not 4 tickets for each booking.
So even if you managed to book 2 for yourself, once the other 2 were booked the code becomes useless, even without cookies.

Anyway, another puzzle for you !

When clicking on the link from my work Wifi, I get the maintenance screen, however, the link works when I switch to my mobile data! My work Wifi or permissions have not changed, I checked with my IT guys.

I remembered this happened several years ago, I used to get the error code screen, but after a few weeks, it worked again. Again, my work Wifi has not been changed. My office IT helpdesk even checked for me and could not see what the problem is. I have full access rights as an administrator of my company.

What's your views?
