This didn't float my boat. It was a caricature of a comedy with huge overblown characters and scripted boom booms. Russle was acting at acting but the script and stupid scenes of frivolity didn't help. That bit at the auction room was just too stupid.

Genuine laughs were few and far between, It was all so contrived; the rich boy with all his big toys, the nanny mammy, the power crazy bitch, the distant mother, the dead father then the sweet little poor girl who persuaded him to throw it all away :X

The origional didn't do much for me either

3/10 from me

Apologies to anyone who hasn't seen the film yet as I have probably just spoiled it a little.
Use the spoiler thing then. Go to the full editor. Click on the spoiler button above the main text box (it's next to the one that says youtube) and then write the thing you want to write in there. That way if anyone who has seen the film can click on that of they want to see what you've written. People who haven't can ignore. You can see that I've done it with your post as an example.

We've already had this issue come up with Red Riding Hood. Try and remember that people who haven't seen a film might look at the page to see what people thought of it. Don't ruin it for them.

So finally went to see this tonight, after the aborted trip to the premiere. Reading all the comments, kinda glad I never got there the other night as all that waiting around would have bored me and then getting back would have been a total pain and would have cost me almost the price of an actual cinema ticket. Someone up there (the patron saint of cinema-goers) did me a favour!

The film itself was sweet and mildly amusing in places, as usual Mirren is great, Brand struggles in more serious/gentle moments, and Nolte definitely looked more drunk than anyone else. I'm sure he could give Russell a few tips on how to get really wasted. I usually dislike remakes and this one is no different, but as I didn't hate it... 6/10.

Saw this in Braehead, Glasgow. Good to finally meet Cheeksdevil who I actually met months ago. There were the usual same faces so things are back to normal in Glasgow.

As for the film, some laughs but not enough. It was more childish than anything else. Though I did wonder if some people were watching a different film from me with one female laughing out loud every second minute. Just glad I didn't p*y for this. Best thing was the soundtrack.

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

Yup thats what annoyed me the most about it but if it had been my daughter reviewing, she would have had a different take on it. She laughed more.

Saw this at Covent Garden today. Thought it was absolutely dreadful. Had more fun writing the review: https://moviefilmreviews.wordpress.com/ ... ew-arthur/
And the nanny dying was the funniest bit. Unintentionally of course. It was just so sudden and clichéd. She didn't even seem particularly ill. She needed to die for a bit of fake poignancy so she just did. Ticked a box.
