If you don't p*y for tickets you are more likely to be a bit more lenient, I reckon.

I saw this in Edinburgh last night. It was about 65%/70% full.

I didn't think it was as bad as some have said. Yes, it wasn't marvelous splendid oscar winning acting but it was entertaining enough in a turn off your brain and stare at teh screen sort of way. I didn't think there was ay chemistry between Russel Brand and Gerta G......., there was more chemistry with him and Helen Mirren which got a tad creepy at times.

5.5/10

I agree that this was not an award-winning film, but it was entertaining enough and the audience did have a few laughs. Definitely much better than the appalling Hall Pass!

I'm p*ying to see this tomorrow so hopefully it'll be worth it. I think russell brand is ok to be fair. he can be funny at times.

I decided to give Arthur a miss but I sat through Hall Pass and survived unscathed, so now cinefila 1's comment has made me think this would be a good alternative way of rating films, e.g. "not good but not as bad as Hall Pass" or "better than X but worse than Y". It would be a little difficult to organise but no more subjective than numerical scores.

Hall Pass was truly shit, though. I think 75% of what comes out would score as "better than Hall Pass"
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

yes Hall Pass was Rubbish, but the only film I walked out of last year was The Runaways...when they started throwing the dog turds...that was enough for me...and I wasn't the first out of the door.

Another great review David! o/ I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said.

Other members were saying they liked this and found it funny and I was thinking to myself 'were we watching the same film?'.
Arthur....now, I did see the original when it first came out all those years agao and I didn't like it then. I did wonder what a remake of this film would be like. It occured to me that one would have to completely re-write the script and add another form of humour in order to make it work. I was right but unfortunately Hollywood did not agree with me and instead rolled out a modern day version of the same tripe.

Funthing29 unfortunately I cannot agree with you totally on the 'absolutely dreaful' comment. Yes it was dreadful I agree, but I was fortunate enough to fall asleep about 1/2 way through and woke up at the very end. So thankfully I was saved from the full Russel Brand film experience :D !
