E: 16/05 Competition Win a holiday of a lifetime on the Camino de Santiago!

Fancy winning a 15-day walking holiday on the Camino de Santiago? To celebrate the release of Emilio Estevez's acclaimed drama The Way on 13 May, we're offering you the opportunity to do exactly that, courtesy of adventure travel company Explore.

The Way stars Martin Sheen as Tom, an American doctor who comes to France to collect the remains of his adult son, killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking The Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Driven by his profound sadness and desire to understand his lost son better, Tom decides to leave his California life behind, and in doing so begins to learn the difference between "The life we live and the life we choose."

Endorsed by the film's director and actor, Emilio Estevez, the small group tour will take-in many of the location and accommodation highlights of The Way. With a value of approximately £1,735, the prize (for one person) includes the provision of flights, accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, transport and the services of an Explore tour leader.

For more information about Explore, specialists in walking, cycling and adventure holidays worldwide visit http://www.explore.co.uk

To stand a chance of winning this fantastic prize, just email your name, age and contact number to theway@cakegroup.com. Closing date for the competition is 12pm on Monday 16 May.

From today’s Metro (waves to ejwrank)

Former bratpacker Emilio Estevez here continues to doggedly carve out a second career as a director with an “inspirational” film so worthily well-intentioned it’s like munching through an entire box of muesli, without the milk. Grumpy old Tom is stuck in his ways until his “you don’t choose your life – you live one” son dies hiking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Tom resolves to complete this journey, carrying his dead son’s ashes with him. Along the way, he hooks up with a tiresome assortment of international traveller stereotypes, including James Naesbitt’s exuberant (ie, dead annoying) Irish writer, all carrying a variety of emotional baggage. Despite the almost unendurable running time, we never get to know the characters any better, nor frankly wish to. On the upside, the hills of Northern Spain look ever so pretty. Makes you eager to walk the Camino for yourself – anything rather than trudge through this.
