I actually loved this film, though felt it way too violent for a 12A, not quite sure what the BBFC were thinking but oh well.
Really enjoyed the acting from Jessica Barden who starred in the abysmal 'Tamara Drewe'. Thought she was fab in this.
The scene undreneath the car was a bit too unbelievable for me, really liked the soundtrack though although my brother felt it a little similar to Tron.
Will probably p*rchase this when it is released on dvd. 4/5.

I'm only just getting around to commenting on this film, but I really enjoyed it, came out of the screening feeling quite exhilarated. Have to agree with some of the criticisms of the story but loved the scenery, cinematography, soundtrack and pace.

Antartic? Really?
Have we watched the same film? ;)

Edit: I am not saying that makes more sense they travelled down from Finland to Morocco though

there hasnt been a film that made me feel genuinely queasy in a long time. Towards the end, Hanna did, with increasingly bizarre dream-like sequences. The plot is linear, but bizarre things happen on the way there - the mushroom house, the wierd uncle, the whirling cameras, and a general uneveness about characters. For instance, why did we have extras from the Fast Show as bad guys? They were unnervingly unscary. Surely this organisation could manage better than them to track down their fugitive. Odd. Hanna's companion felt odd too, a wierd chatty contrast to Hannah herself. It helped that Ronan was cast forthis movie, her pale androgynous look making seem like someone who hasnt even had the opportunity to develop gender characteristics yet.

Fight scenes were equally odd but still fun. A kid isnt going to be able to beat three grown men at once, no matter what genes she has, although it was fun to watch her do it.

I think the person who made this movie had a lot of talent to make me feel so wierdly uncomfortable as I did, but he/she needs to work on plot details a bit more. Often you didnt know where the film was heading or why (perhaps that was intentional, Hanna hadnt any reason to do anything after her mission was over).

In one scene Hannah shoots someone to only wound, then shoots the same person to kill them. This schizophrenic act sums up the undecided direction of the movie.

At times this film felt like it was a near future sci-fi film, one of those made in the 1970s like Logans Run, but its definitely contemporary, or even perhaps a few years in the past.

Finally - a killer bigbeat soundtrack makes this movie enough for me despite its oddness, so 8/10

I saw this as film I'd intended to see was not being shown due to a problem in cinema. I did find the very close-up filming a bit too much at times. Story was ok but not what I thought it was going to be. I thought more of it was going to be about her "training" as the trailer suggested. Entertaining enough.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
