Actually that part did get the biggest laugh. A lot of you really enjoyed this...I am very envious. Maybe the 3d spoiled my whole enjoyment and made me more cynical...I must watch this again in 2d.

Cinema
I took an hour off work and drove for two hours to watch this at The O2..in total I had 'wasted' 4.5hours of my day? Okay it beats working but it didn't deserve the time I spent in traffic!
Arrived at The O2 car park, Car Park 2 was full so I had to go to Car Park 4. Luckily BF was hogging a space for me else I would have had to circle around for ages (I think Car Parks 2&4 were for cinema customers so they can claim free parking with cinema ticket). We got in around 6:40PM and it was packed! Managed to find x4 seats in row B on the right...that's basically the second row from the screen...! We had free toffee popcorn and water (basically my dinner). Then we saw people right at the top (I think the premium ones where you have access to the bar and p*y like £30?) and I had asked the usher if we could go up there and he said 'VIP ONLY'...(psh). Film didn't start until 7:10PM or even later because they were still trying to seat people....*tut tut*. There was a group of boys (I think they were boys) that were talking very loudly and someone getting 'shush' them but that didn't work. Awesome(!)

Film Rating: 4/10
I didn't expect much from the film but I am going to rate it 4/10? I gave it 4 because of Johnny Depp and 0 for the story. I still liked his Jack Sparrow character but it was lacking something...it's as if Johnny Depp is showing he can't be bothered with this character anymore or Jack Sparrow himself has given up! I was slightly confused about the mermaid and the dude...
did he survive? was it really love?
. The 3D-ness sucked. 1) I had to sit at an angle with my neck slightly resting as we were sooo close to the screen. 2) I had to have 3D glasses angled so that the lens itself was pushed up resting on my cheeks and the glasses arms were pointing upwards away from my ears as they were so uncomfy. 3) There were so many dark scenes in the film as in loadsa blacks/browns/shadows that I could barely work out what was going on. It just made the fighting scenes a pain to watch! I wouldn't have pa*d to watch this and I'm not sure if it was worth going for free. I much preferred the first three films. The jokes weren't as funny in this one, it's as if they just got lazy. Apparently Johnny Depp has already been approached to do the next sequel and I reckon he's not going to do it. I hope so, otherwise Jack Sparrow character is being killed off.....

Despite being shot way way way too dark considering what 3D glasses do to images, I thought the 3D was great, constant depth and when shameless, felt right. Film may have sucked, but on a technical level it seemed mostly above board.

Went to the North Finchley screening of this last night. Very busy, as per usual for a Sky screening. There was a big, grumpy, moron of a security guard who was solely there to make sure nobody recorded the film. As I pointed out to my little brother and his mate, "I have no desire to record it. Hell, I have little desire to even watch it." The guard reserved himself a seat in the top corner of the room. He prevented my party from sitting there, and when the film started, did he sit there? Nope, he was right at the front.

There was another issue. There appeared to be a baby in there somewhere. I kept hearing it letting out a yelp now and again. My brother's friend also had a constant chair-kicker behind him. He got quite angry about it.

Anyway, that's the formalities out of the way. The film itself was fairly dull. Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow is really beginning to grate. He has completely lost any charm he may have once had, and that is unfortunate.

The introduction of Penelope Cruz was a grave error. She's incomprehensible and she cannot really act in films like this. I was also immensely disappointed with Ian McShane as Blackbeard. He's a personal favourite actor of mine, but he lacked a sinister edge. I sometimes forgot it was Blackbeard. He just seemed like Ian McShane with a black beard. It was nice to see a sluggish sword fight between Lovejoy and Lionel Logue, though. I never thought I would see that.

The scenery was excellent. I understand it was filmed mostly in Hawaii. The 3D was absolutely pointless. On the plus side, I thought having the evil mermaids in there was a nice move.

In summary, while it didn't drag as much as the previous two entries, it still managed to plod along like a granny in Sainsbury's. It isn't terrible, but it just isn't that good. I am on the fence. My brother and his mate (who are both 8) really enjoyed it. I can't give it anymore than three stars, or as you lot like to put it, 6/10.

Saw this at Staines Vue with my family - we all enjoyed it. It was the first 3D film we had seen at the cinema and the effects did not disappoint!

Had to sit through a presentation until 6pm so I only managed to arrive shortly before 7pm at the O2. I thought we were going to be sent away (because the screening room was already full) but then the people in charge decided to open the upper level. It looked liked it was the VIP section. We were also given popcorn and water.

As for the film, don't have anything to add to previous comments. I thought it was fairly entertaining although the plot was weak. I agree with mattymc13 wrt P. Cruz. While she may be a good actress in Almodovar films, I find it hard to understand her when she's speaking in English. 6/10

Saw this in a very full Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh last night.

Half hearted security checking bags.

No popcorn :tears: have had that at recent sky screenings but not last night.

Really enjoyed the film love Johnny Depp and although not a fan of Pen Cruz thought she was believable as his sidekick.
Think this film benefited from 3d effect. Was sitting far too near front for me and thought I was missing far more of the 3d effects so took off specs and was surprised when I put them back on at how much more I saw.

Have seen a lot of 3d cartoons lately and so I suppose am getting used to the extra bits I see. The scenes going through the jungle/swamp were really good in 3d cos I tested my specs again. Loved the missionary/preacher too.

8/10 from me
