Re: London 2012 Olympics
if we dont manage to get ticket for the olympics then their is a london 2012 festival to open the olympics going on sale(but they are free) in september
The two star names are among the first to sign up for BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012, which is set to feature around 80 international artists, bands and DJs.
The free concert at the capital's Hackney Marshes will take place on June 23rd and 24th 2012, the same weekend as the Glastonbury Festival - which is taking a year off in 2012 - usually takes place.
It will also be the first major event of the London 2012 Festival, which kicks off on June 21st and which will feature artists from all over the world taking part in events to celebrate the Olympics.
'To be part of this event is so important to me,' Leona said.
'I'm so excited about the opportunities and the excitement it will bring to the area. Radio 1 are going to put on the biggest show in their history and it is happening in East London - I couldn't be happier.'

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Nothing here, but then I only applied for two events. The more time that passes, the more I loathe the fact the Olympics are being held here. By and large Londoners have been getting and will continue to get the shaft in this deal.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
We did have a bit of money debited which only appeared when I checked this morning and but no where near what we applied for. I think it will amount to about 4 tickets and of course we applied as a family as otherwise it would have been far too complicated. We might have been better off applying separately as then our lottery chances would have been greater. The whole ticketing thing has been very poorly done. Whoever thought up the scheme where you have to guess how many tickets you might be given and be charged 14 months in advance if you do manage to get some tickets? The mind boggles. And I read in the paper that sponsors have already creamed off a vast number of the best tickets so we plebs have little chance. And we didn't even apply for any final or semi finals or any top events. We just wanted to see the Olympic Stadium and feel as if we are part of it all.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
And if you applied from overseas - you get your choice of tickets straightaway! How fair is that to the home country applicants! Weird system!

Re: London 2012 Olympics
No tickets for me. It seems very unfair that people living in the London Boroughs and p*ying for the games are, in the main, unable to get tickets. Rant over !!

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Hey yeah interesting point you make! Shouldn't Londoners and especially people in those boroughs get a bigger allocation of tickets in this first round draw?
