Re: 500 Days of Summer
I saw this film this afternoon and have to say that although it was good it was not as funny as i thought it would be. Would have to go it a 6/10 for me.

Re: 500 Days of Summer
Good film, excellent casting for the leads (especialy JGL who was superb). One of the best soundtracks I've heard - where else do you get The Smiths, Pixies (well, karaoke Pixies anyway), Doves in the same film?
As a story it's fairly obvious, but that leads you to indulge in the characters and their different ideas. The 'quirky' scenes work well - love the Hall & Oates dance especially.
Very well done, and a break from the norm against the usual dull formulaic romcoms - especially those that have been floating around of late (The Proposal, The Ugly Truth etc etc).
7.5/10

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this film (apart from a rom com) but I agree with Longtallsally that it wasn't as funny as i thought it was going to be. It was good casting and great music and I can't quite put my finger on why it just didn't do it for me. I would probably watch it again in a few months and give it another go but I dont think I'll be getting this one on DVD.

Re: 500 Days of Summer
I have now seen this film and also have to agree, it wasn't that funny and there was just something about it that unsettled me. Maybe it was that it didn't turn out like a wanted it to in the end.
Still a good film though, just different than i expected. At first i thought it may get a little confusing with all the jumping around it did. The acting was great, the casting was perfect and the soundtrack even better.
I would recommend this film to people but would never say that it is a must see. I won't be purchasing it when it comes out on DVD and i doubt i would even watch it again.

Caught up with this while away and despite missing my preview, still managed to see it free as it was a Vue cinema so my sister and I used Nectar points. I quite enjoyed it (and was hugely relieved that my sister did, as most of my suggestions have earned me black marks) but it certainly wasn't exactly cheerful or uplifting. I was also driven mad by JGL's messy hair - I so wanted to be able to take a comb to it, just as I did with others when there was a bizarre fashion for wiggly partings. I thought it was odd that ZD suddenly got engaged and married without the fiance/husband getting even one line of dialogue.
