I saw a trailer for this today and thought it reminded me of something - but that was because the film was made in 2009 and was originally due out much earlier. No idea what happened (expect someone here has) but US films about various conflicts haven't fared too well at the Box Office there so that might account for it. When I first read about it I thought it looked interesting and I still do, but then, I liked films such as In The Valley Of Elah.

I was always surprised, especially after Harrelson's Oscar nomination, that the film never came out. Saw it months ago and really really liked it, some amazing performances, a strong storyline, it sometimes gets a little slow, but makes up for it in the acting element.
It's scheduled for late June now, right?

So expect it to come out next year.

I saw the trailer at the cinema last night and thought it reminded me of the film called Brothers with Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman.

When I posted on the front page and saw Ms_T's comment, I thought I'd watch the trailer too and I agree with you elski, it also reminded me of Brothers (which I thought was a rubbish movie).

I would like to see this but don't fancy travelling into central London on this hot sunny day so I think I will have to miss this one.

This was my second film of the day. We chose it because we were in Greenwich anyway, otherwise it would have been Life in a Day. The Odeon Greenwich screening did not even fill 4 rows. God the film was long. And depressing. Ok, what do you expect from a film that deals with a soldier having to doorstep people and tell them their loved ones have died for their country? Not only has he got to deal with his own demons but now he has to deal with other people's grief as well, not to mention with his dry alcoholic boss/partner on the job Woody Harrelson. And then he falls for a war widow (the outstanding Samantha Morton). It's all very well made but the length could have been cut a bit and maybe some ray of hope injected somewhere? It was hard work trying to understand the strong accents and dealing with all the emotions on screen.

6/10

On the plus side, prettyxcool is a delight to have around for an entire day.

I just got back from this - second film of the day which is unusual for me! I probably wouldn't have bothered with it if it hadn't been on locally but I found it completely absorbing, moving and well acted.
Preferred Cinemas :
Richmond, Kingston, West End, Wimbledon, Shepherds Bush, Clapham, Westfield, Fulham
