Re: Larry Crowne
I enjoyed that, it's got to the stage where it's refreshing if a rom-com doesn't have anything crude or gross in it. I want to know what the other 3 basic dance steps were!

Re: Larry Crowne
It was more lame crowne than larry crowne. I don't think the plot was very engaging I am afraid and it was awkward having Julia Roberts fall for Tom Hanks even though she's married. There just wasn't the flow of events which would make the romance believeable. Nia Vardalos and Tom Hanks co-wrote the script and it just felt very weak.
I was sitting next to a big Julia Roberts fan, no bias though, she was definitely the best thing in the film and had almost all the funny lines. 5.5/10

Re: Larry Crowne
Just got back from a fairly full Bournemouth Odeon and i really enjoyed it. It was easy on the brain and eyes, had some funny bits thrown in and an easy story to follow (predictable). One to relax and forget about work.

Re: Larry Crowne
It was OK and that's a good review.
I wanted to go to sleep through most of it whilst I waited for something even mildly interesting to happen. I did laugh a few times but not that much.
12a? only for boredom factor, i don't know any kids who will want to see this, even the kids behind me said, and i quote, "it was rubbish"

100% packed at the metrocentre. But how boring. A middle aged bloke went to college, cooked a bit and made some unrealistic friendships. Urgh and watching Tom snog was like watching yr parents and I'm 40 yrs old! A very snooze filled 4/10 Zzz

Just back from Glasgow Springfield Quay at a pretty full screen. Well it was a 70 seater screen.
I thought it wasn't too bad. Predictable but likeable characters. There were a few big laugh out moments with some very funny lines. But how old does Tom Hanks look now!

Re: Larry Crowne
This was a tad better than last night's film. Oh who am I kidding, it was miles better but that's not difficult to say if you sat through Huge. But no, it wasn't perfect. It was filled with the usual unrealistic Hollywood stuff and you never saw whether he actually got a proper job afterwards apart from cooking a bit of French toast for Julia Roberts. Who btw has zero chemistry with Tom Hanks. Don't get me wrong, he still does it for me. Oh yeah, baby. But snogging her? Urgh, how could he. The story wasn't particularly engaging either. So our Larry (or Lance, if you prefer) got fired for the worst reason I have ever heard (if I was him, I'd be at the employment lawyer's office faster than you can say "it's tough times out there"), and for some reason he decides to enrol in two courses at college, one for economics and one for erm... speech? The motley crew of characters he met there was funny but if someone feng shui'd my house like this and snapped my glasses because they are not fashionable enough, I wouldn't be so good-humoured anymore.
So I guess it's a 7/10 for brainless entertainment that wasn't nearly as funny as the gaggle of hysterically laughing women to my left would have you believe.
And I am going to complain to Sky about their new tendency of starting previews late. It was 15 minutes this time, and still people were coming in. Unbelievable.

I watched this at Kingston-I walked out halfway through! Really didn't enjoy it. I didn't find the characters believable, & found it generally boring.

Very little to say about this. It started quite promisingly but then nothing much happened.
