Craig's body is 00-Heaven. (And I am prepared to agree with that statement.)

Daniel Craig has come top of a poll to find Hollywood's hottest torso.

The actor caused a stir in 2006's Casino Royale when he appeared from the sea in blue swimming trunks. That scene helped him see off 300's Gerard Butler and Brad Pitt, who came second and third respectively.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Brand and Sean Connery also made the list, compiled by Lovefilm.com.

There was even space for Sacha Baron Cohen, who came fourth for his famous mankini appearance. 8O

Coen brothers to remake John Wayne classic!

The Coen brothers are keen to remake John Wayne classic True Grit.
The duo want to make a movie based on the Charles Portis novel that inspired the 1969 Oscar winning film. Variety are claiming that Jeff Bridges is in talks to play the John Wayne character.
It will be the first time Bridges and the Coen's have teamed up since The Big Lebowski.
True Grit tells the story of US Marshall Rooster Cogburn's attempt to find the murderer of a 14 year old girl's father. Wayne won his only Oscar for his performance.
The book was told from the young girl's perspective, and it's believed the Coen's will stick to that perspective.

Interesting idea......

I love John Wayne cowboy movies. They're great. I'll be keen to see the re-make to compare the two.

Streep takes a break.

Meryl Streep is desperate for a rest after a string of movie roles. The actress has starred in several films recently, including Julia and Julie, Doubt and Mamma Mia - and has admitted that she is now "exhausted".
"Seven movies in two and a half years. I have never worked this hard ever. I am exhausted, I'm feeling like I need a break.
"Promoting movies is not fun. The most fun part is making the movies. Selling a movie is more to do with wardrobe and shoes and cleaning up and being presentable."
She added, "I haven't ever considered giving up acting, but I do need enforced rest in my career. When each of my children was born I took a year off. It is very nice to have time to live, gather experience and watch people."

Alien drama continues its box office invasion - Wed 16 Sep

District 9 has stayed top at the UK box office.

The alien drama, which was produced by The Lord of the Rings' Peter Jackson, held onto the top spot after taking £1.2 million.

It was no change at number two either, with 3D horror The Final Destination remaining in second place.

Dorian Gray, which stars Ben Barnes and Colin Firth, was the week's highest new entry in third place.

Horror movie Sorority Row and quirky comedy 500 Days of Summer were in fourth and fifth respectively.

Has anyone been to see Sorority Row? I must say that I do not fancy the look of it at all. (Though if I can sit through Final Destination 3D, I expect I could sit through it.)

Damon and Eastwood team up for Hereafter.
Matt Damon has signed on to star in Clint Eastwood's supernatural thriller. The Bourne Identity star will play the lead role in Hereafter - a spooky chiller by Frost/Nixon screenwriter Peter Morgan.

Hereafter will be the second time Eastwood and Damon have worked together. The par have just finished work on Nelson Mandela drama Invictus.

Two good films to look forward to! :D

Dog Of The Millennium Bounds To Screen
UPDATED: Now with pics!

There are heartwarming tales and then there's Endal, a pedigree Labrador who virtually single-pawedly cared for a disabled Gulf War veteran, saving his marriage, and, on one occasion, his life.

It's the stuff movies are made of, and thanks to producer Simon Brooks (White Noise), it's now the stuff a movie will be made of. Brooks acquired the rights to the story after watching a TV documentary about Chief Petty Officer Allen Parton who, after suffering head injuries in combat, was assigned a charity-trained pup Endal to help with his day-to-day chores.

Endal's resourcefulness went much further though: when Parton was hit by a car, the canine put him into the recovery position, covered him in a blanket and went for help. He could also use a cash machine, fetch items from supermarket shelves and load and empty a washing machine. Oh, and Endal himself had a lifelong disability causing him trouble with his joints (not even kidding). Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Lassie.

Brooks, who's hired Calendar Girls' scribe Juliette Towhidi to write the screenplay, was inspired by the doggy derring-do: “I was immediately attracted to this uplifting story of a man and his family who'd been dragged through hell before an extraordinary dog called Endal ‘adopted’ them and changed their lives forever."

Endal is being adapted from Allen Parton and his wife's co-authored book, Endal: How One Extraordinary Dog Brought A Family Back From The Brink. Filming will start next summer.

UPDATE: The very nice Mr Parton himself just called us and asked if we could add some more dashing pictures of Endal in action, the answer to which was, "Of course." Honestly, we weren't dog people before seeing these pictures, but now...

Thanks to Allen Parton for these.

All together now: "AWWWWW!"

Here's an unlikely piece of news - well it is in my estimation. I never realised that Mariah Carey had made any films.

Mariah Carey film nabs best film honour

Mariah Carey's new film has won the top film prize at the Toronto Film Festival.

The singer play a frumpy care worker in gritty drama Precious. Based on the best selling novel about an illiterate Harlem teenager, Precious took home the coveted People's Choice Award at the festival. Following its win at Toronto and the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, many are tipping the movie for Oscar glory.

And it shouldn't be ruled out, as this year's Oscar sensation Slumdog Millionaire took home the Toronto film prize previously.

Carey's performance, which is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, has been praised by critics - a far cry from her movie debut in 2001 flop Glitter, which was savaged by critics.

The Host gets a director.

The author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer, is working on a screen adaptation of her sci-fi novel The Host.
The book, very much like Meyer's Twilight series, involves a love triangle. Set in a world where alien body snatchers rule Earth, an alien is fused with a dying woman in a bid to hunt the last remaining man on the planet - only to find the woman falling in love with him.
Gattaca's Andrew Niccol will write and direct the film.
Producer Nick Wechsler said, "We wanted Stephenie to be involved in the adaptation and have her endorse and be part of the creative decisions. Twilight has proved she knows more about what works than most."

Has anyone read this novel? Any thoughts about it? Does it match the Twilight series for excitement?
