Strauss Prelude to Capriccio
Mozart Oboe Quartet
John Woolrich Quiddities Schoenberg Verklaerte Nacht
Performer(s):
Britten Sinfonia
An alternative title to Quiddities might have been Lake Greifen, after the Robert Walser story. The narrator swims in a small hidden lake. What will such a swim be like when the lake is dark and the sky full of stars? William Gass wrote 'The story says no more (the story is over), but we can guess the rest. Commissioned by the Britten Sinfonia, and played by them in this concert.

Tickets Available
Two Boys
World Premiere of Nico Muhly's new opera with a libretto by Craig Lucas.
A teenage boy is stabbed. An older boy is caught on CCTV leaving the scene. An open-and-shut case, it would seem. But, as Detective Inspector Anne Strawson investigates the older boy's story, she uncovers a bizarre nexus of chatroom meetings, mysterious internet identities, supposed spy rings and disturbing cybersex, leading to a stunning conclusion.
Loosely inspired by actual events that occured in an English industrial city, Nico Muhly's new opera is a cautionary tale of the dark side of the internet.
With a libretto by Craig Lucas, screenwriter of Prelude to a Kiss and Reckless and video design by Fifty Nine Productions, whose work has been a key feature of such recent ENO triumphs as Doctor Atomic and Satyagraha, this new co-production with the Metropolitan Opera, New York, is directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher, making his UK opera debut.
Some elements of this production may be unsuitable for those under 18 years of age.
SHOWFILMFIRST Vouchers should be allocated seating tickets between 6.30 and 7.15pm at the main box office. As ever, please be discrete and respect that people you are sitting with will have pa*d a lot of money for their tickets.

Music on the Roof
We’ve got three fabulous evenings of live music to make your summer even more memorable.
Watch the sun set over St. Paul's Cathedral and the London skyline from our stunning roof terrace as soul superstar Natalie Williams, and her incredible 10 piece band, headline a three-day mini-festival of jazz, soul and pop all in aid of The Prince's Trust.
From talented girl groups High on Heels and Parade through to the jewel of the UK jazz scene Clare Teal, make this a date for the diary this summer.
And that’s not all. Thursday and Saturday nights are free plus there’s a complimentary drink on offer. We ask that you help The Prince’s Trust who do such amazing work for young people in the UK with a £5 suggested donation on arrival.
Entry is from 6.30pm - performances start at 7.00pm.
Thursday 14th July – High on Heels (free admission)
High On Heels possess the combined sass of an entire army of Beyonces, but they are so, so, SO much more than mere pop-droids. This is no ordinary girl band. This isn’t even a band. This, is a Collective; a Collective with quantifiable talent which surpasses its very visible glamour. What’s more, this Collective wasn’t just voted together by the viewing public; this Collective came together to breathe life into one unique, yet simple, concept: take the best professionals from every known musical genre for the purposes of experimentation in energy and sound.
Saturday 16th July – Clare Teal & Laurie Holloway Trio (free admission)
Clare Teal is one of the most successful Female British jazz singers in decades with a string of albums behind her, including the UK National Top 20 hit "Don't Talk".
Alongside her music, Clare has a successful career in broadcasting, presenting Clare Teal, Sunday night at 10pm and Big Band Special, Monday night at 11pm for Radio 2.
Accompanying Clare is the Laurie Holloway Trio. There are very few British jazz musicians who have become household names, however Laurie Holloway’s work as a pianist, composer, music director and arranger has led to him becoming something of a national treasure.
Places are limited, so click here to book now! http://www.onenewchange.com/1music-on-the-roof.aspx
