It was such a fantastic gig and Martin was on top form. The in-between song banter, both off-the-cuff and rehearsed, was hilarious and it was so good to see he's lost none of his stand-up skills. Making some great gags about his own celebrity ("I like to write songs based on personal experience. This one's called 'My Masseuse is too chatty'").
Seeing him do King Tut live was such a thrill too.
Overall one of the most enjoyable gigs I've been to so far this year.
I would urge any Manchester based FMUKers to get along to the Apollo tonight (I believe there are still tickets available).
No King Tut in Manchester, but a fantastic show. That tune would've brought back so many memories, my old VHS of his Hollywood Bowl live show is almost worn out I played it so much.
As are so many of my copies of his films, even the DVDs!
An absolute hero who has made me laugh probably more than any film star, apart from maybe Peter Sellers (But I won't get into the whole Pink Panther thing)
I agree totally with your review, a perfectly judged mix of musicianship and comedy, I had a smile on my face for the whole two hours.
