Thanks, my sense of humour and/or irony appears to be somewhat wanting.

I say all the performances were excellent but had forgotten about Goran Visnjic whose acting was as odd and distracting as his haircut/wig.
Yes, it was very weird. He was quite scary and came across like some bounding giant child in the sorts of clothes your own child comes home in from nursery school when he's wet himself there.

60 is not elderly -- or is it? I really don't think of myself as elderly.

But you are right that the Telegraph group does tend to be older -- shall we leave it at more mature/older and not call them (us) elderly?

Sorry, didn't know this would be such a touchy subject. I actually meant folks from 65+ if that makes a difference. If it doesn't I apologise. I always thought "elderly gentleman" sounded nicer than "old fart" but maybe not. OH calls himself an old fart btw but then he is older than you. I could call you a "super adult"? That's what the London Walks people call folks over 60 as those are the ones that get discounts, and that sounds quite nice. When people say "mature", I always think of cheese...

Yes I missed that the Curzon screening was with a Q&A or would have gone there myself. I was at the May Fair as tickets were more plentiful so I could book for a group of friends.

Having said that I would have been more upset to have missed Melanie Laurent!

Yes, but I never had tickets for that one. At least I didn't have tickets and pass on it like the Curzon yesterday.

I was bored. Annoying because there was a really interesting story at the centre of it, but it just wasn't explored properly and instead distracted with an incredibly uninspiring romance: https://moviefilmreviews.wordpress.com/ ... beginners/

The queue at Curzon was long, but I managed to meet celini and jeancomp for the first time, and lovely to catch up with bevvy, 5rannoch and ejwrank.

I expected this to be a fast paced comedy. But it was slow and sad, the second film in two days for me. The parts with Christopher Plummer was poignant and touching. The dog was great and had all the fun parts as well as the gays, whose life seems to be great with lots of love, whereas Ewans' role was very solemn, his relationship with his mother, his relationship with his gay dying father, and his romantic relationship. Thought Goran Visnjic as the gay lover was sort of awkward, may be it was the funny wig. The Q&A was interesting though, with Mike Mills and Ewan McGregor, although one or two answers he gave sounded a bit lame. But besides that, he was the highlight for me, as I love Ewan! o/ 7/10
