you can't really tell from a trailer what its all about, especially from the first trailer. I just go with the flow if its free, unless I know for sure I will hate it
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

On the one hand I've never seen the originals because they didn't appeal to me and the new trailer just looks plain weird to me (it was somewhere between freaky and making me laugh because it looked so ridiculous).

On the other: Andy Serkis! Tom Felton!

So guys convince me, should I see this one or skip it?
Actually, to hell with the new film, and the sequels. Please do yourself a favour and watch the very first all time classic Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston. One of the great sci Fi movies of all time. Has 2 of the all time greatest quotes. Both quotes include the word "damn" ;). Has one of the most memorable endings in movie history. Has the greatest twist in movie history. Heston's best role since El Cid, Ben Hur and Omega Man. Roddy Mcdowell's best role ever. Has the greatest make up in movie history (honestly it does, even though its made in 1969), it was so ahead its time.

Have I sold it to you yet ;)

Well you've sold me on the original but not this remake, ha!

Another question for you fans: Are the Ape movies scary? Or more drama? General action flick?

I didn't know Tom Felton was in this. Anyways isn't this a new storyline and not a remake?

More like thought provoking scifi adventure flicks with a fair amount of violence in each film, particularly the fourth one. The tone varies in each movie. Like I said if you only see one, just see the original first one. Its complete in itself. The sequels are good too but variable in tone. The second one for instance is even darker, a little rehash of the first movie but with a very daring end. The third one is a complete left turn into comedy, not farcical, its still fairly serious but a lot more humerous than others (involves time travel) but leads to yet another interesting ending (heartbreaking though). The fourth one and fifth completes a narrative drive of the whole circle of history in the series. The fifth one is probably the weakest. But through all the dark beats of the movies, 2 Ape characters light up the screen in the first 3 films, Zira and Cornelious (McDowell). The most infectious, funny and charming characters who gave a real spark to the films.

Ignore Burton's remake like the plague.

Defintely a new storyline because it contradicts how the Apes became rulers in the old classic series. However, I think its a remake of the Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (the fourth film of the original series). The leader of the Apes uprising was Ceasar (Roddy Mcdowell), same as in this new film. The difference is in Ceasars own origins. But otherwise, looks to be the same story.

I think i preferred the other storyline of how apes became rulers but I think i'll like this movie either way.
