Not sure what the connection to Super 8 is though?

Yeah I don't get the title either, with the name and the trailer i thought the crash gave the kids super powers or something but obviously that theory didn't stick and there are only 6 kids.

Perhaps that's because train problems kept me seeing tonight's screening :wall: :tears: :wall:

All I have seen is the trailer, which looks awesome!

Maybe the two invisible kids had the super powers :giggle:

Super 8 is the film or film format the kids were using to shoot their movie. It's made by Kodak and was the main technology used by amateur film makers before video. When Spielberg was a kid, he used to make films (like the kids in this film, with staged wrecks involving toy trains!) and charge 25 cents for admission. I suspect JJ Abrams was the same when he was a kid- I certainly felt that the movie was, in a huge part, an affectionate look at their own childhood experiences in making movies.

Just watched this last night, loved 95% of the film. The kids performances were great, really believable and not to cartoonish as most kids are in films theses days. Really did feel like an 8os film and made me feel like a kid again myself ! The only thing i had issues with were the ending but without spoiling it too much i cant get into it. Out of the whole film thats the only thing i really didnt like that much.

A must watch

I actually put this videoclip at the very beginning of this thread, but now that most of you have watched the movie... do have a look!
It was part of the PR campaign; they sent few seconds of Super 8 to different journals/movie related websites (as well as on their own super8 website) and some crazy people/fans took the time to edit the entire thing.

It's going to be hard to watch another one of his movies without finding them distracting, especially knowing they're intentional. *grrr* :wall:
I thought it was just something wrong with the print the cinema had :shifty:
the flares work on that clip of star trek but they don't in the places in super 8 and the come out of nowhere and stretch across the whole screen.

Saw this at a packed Silverlink, Newcastle. Thought it was a good film. Agree with the comments about it having an 80's feel to it and it reminded me of "The Goonies" too. But I don't remember anyone ever using the word "mint" in the 80's. I thought it belongs to this millennium!
