Re: Fright Night
Here's my review: http://wp.me/p1LZHn-3I
I was surprised to have actually enjoyed it. I thought it'd be totally pants and while the story somewhat resembles Swiss cheese, it was good fun. It was waaaaaay too dark though. If these studios insist on using 3D, the least they could do is deploy it correctly.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

I concur. Take it for what it is a great big silly date movie.

Re: Fright Night
I'm not a big fan of 3D but was lucky enough to win tickets to see this at a Media Screening in July; maybe they made an extra effort but for once I thought the 3D was actually appropriate and quite good.

Re: Fright Night
I wonder if it would be worth complaining to the distribution company and the company that made it, and link to your excellent rant?David wrote:Please complain people! Last time I complained about dodgy projection (this was an Odeon) I was fobbed off with 'we are very surprised as we haven't had any other complaints reported'. Grrrrrr.
RUBBISH! Can't review the film as i don't feel like I've seen it properly, although it's not particularly the kind of thing I would watch again. And don't get me started on how DARK it was with the 3D glasses. Just going to write a ranting blogpost instead!
Also very nice to see so many FMUKers. That back row was like jumping inside the internet.

Re: Fright Night
Isn't it largely the cinema's fault though for not making the screen brighter and/or the blurry projection people spoke of?
I really don't remember it being this bad when we saw it in July

Re: Fright Night
Saw this yeaterday and it was all right, although I disagree with IMDb's score of 7.0. I think it deserves a strong 6.0 the reason being that it had quite a long introduction and had little time for the "war for survival" bit. In fact it takes perhaps longer for two of the main characters to kill Ed (his friend turned vampire) than Jerry (the main monster who allegedly survived 600 years on Earth).
To mention the positives, I loved David Tennant! It's the scenes he is in, what make this film worth 6.0 for me!

Re: Fright Night
I would have thought it would be in the interest of the distributers to make sure that thier product is being screening properly. LIke the Mystery Shopper, we could be the Mystery Viewercanadian_turtle wrote:Isn't it largely the cinema's fault though for not making the screen brighter and/or the blurry projection people spoke of?
